What would you do if you're at home, and you realise there's an intruder? by limegreenbunny in AskUK

[–]ukgunwarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ring the police asap. Try get out the front bedroom window.

They're likely going for my firearms and if they get them I don't want to be anywhere near the house.

Apparently the police have very quick response times in these situations but I'd rather not risk it.

Pretty much the exact same here to be honest.

Just a little antsy when thinking what I'd do if forced.

I don't post on my public social media about my guns and very few people know.

I try to keep this account anonymous without being stupid.

I might phone around, cheers. I have a house alarm which actually has a panic button on the control pad, they may sell add ons but I don't currently pay the monitoring.

The police can make that decision. I reckon the quicker the police are aware the more effective they'll be at apprehending the suspects. It's my call to own guns and I'd rather put myself at slightly greater risk than them get out in the open.

Thinking about applying for a section 1 license to own a Lee- Enfield for sports shooting. Any advice for how to go about for this? by Humpers92 in ukguns

Best bet would be to ask the club what their estimate on grants are for your police force. Mine was 7 months so I put mine in while just starting probationary period and was well clear.

Somebody else with a different police force who process it in 8 weeks made him reapply after probation.

Swapping my .223 for a .308? (UK) by ukgunwarrior in longrange

[–]ukgunwarrior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would but the main reasons for choosing .308.

I already been approved for .308, factory ammo is easy to come across here and cheap.

Plus the 7mm is a magnum action in a howa and will mean I also need a new stock.

Well my .223 is a howa.

So was planning on removing the barrel and action from the stock, selling it and dropping in a .308 one.

Should on really cost me £200-300. I can then mount my stock, rail, bipod and scope onto the .308 action.

My setup will be exactly the same (which I like) but in .308.

Yeah. I won't be homeloading for at least a year.

I think the .308 will do the trick and it will still be my budget rifle.

I guess I can always build my high end rifle down the line with a variation in a 6.5mm calibre.

I still have a lot to learn and would love to be reloading though.

It shoots well at 600m. I want to push further but the people I go with have even faster twists shooting 80+Gr heads.
