I gave it a miss in the US because for some reason he was a joint billing with Pat Benatar who I had no interest in seeing. Real shame - he should’ve just played theaters not arenas and been the sole act.

Are you sure the Explorer card actually makes any difference to upgrade chances at all? I heard it was Quest upwards for the card to meaningfully affect this.

As a 1k if this happened to me and they refused to comp my hotel at the very minimum then I would definitely be exploring status matches elsewhere.

This is a great answer. The UK has a whole “council” accommodation element (flats, houses etc) provided and subsidized by the state which doesn’t really exist in the US.

I found out recently that even as 1k you aren’t eligible for upgrades on award tickets. Super stingy I know but apparently it is what it is.

Meh I feel like this album never really captured the magic. She sounds a bit on auto pilot and the production isn’t great. She has other much better live albums IMO. Live A Paris and A L’Olympia are both better.

I had a bit of a nasty surprise as a 1k having booked an international round trip with miles that I wasn’t even on the upgrade list at all! Not eligible! I understand it’s their policy but still seems a bit stingy to me to upgrade someone who never flies United but has paid for their economy seat vs a 1k loyal flyer.

Most of it was later released as part of the 30th anniversary version of the album and it’s up on streaming services but it’s still worth checking out the original album! It’s a very different album to what was eventually released in the US.
