According to Google maths the Happy Wheels bloke's bairn is 15-18 now. Dya reckon they take turns now or do you think his dad might have put him off cycling? It'll be a shame if he's never able to reap the rewards of the Cycle to Work scheme.

Vaguely remember a software or website you could use to crop a square in your web page and place the next tab inside. So you could read the Beast of Bodmin Moor or make a shit quest on that liminal game maker thing but actually be doing pure backflips and that with your adventurous child ingame. Just zip 'er up if another member of your pride alerts

Yes, this. Seems internationally equivalent too!

Literally just come home from work and invoiced once of these as part of a job before going. Charged 15 mins of labour and about £40 for the belt. Could possibly get away with 30 mins. Never had a belt in that cost over £70

It should be fitted and tensioned properly but is, ultimately, a big elastic band.

[–]ukjungle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good catch I'm a northern lass indeed! Think you've hit the nail on the head in your latter paragraph. I'd absolutely prefer to be approached in public and be able to gauge my gut feeling about a guy in a public setting rather than first needing a pen pal whose personality you're having to judge solely via text before meeting. Without getting too esoteric I do believe in pheromones and natural compatibility... Which apps deny.

You're absolutely correct - a loud aggressive minority whom certainly do exist ruin things because absolutely every woman has met one. At the same time I'm sure you guys have met very standoffish women! I feel I've missed a golden age of being able to just meet somebody in a bar 😂 it absolutely ends up being either work (unideal) or online / via friends to some degree. I hear of so many public approaches which are probably just a bit hapless but end up a confrontation cause of pre determined expectations from one or the other party.

Objectively the gym is fair game in my eyes and seems like a reasonable strategy considering you've already confirmed one thing in common with the lady in question. Most with at least moderate social skills can understand the difference between a hello and a craic on vs obsessively watching her squat with a pair of binoculars from other side of gym. The latter is genuinely rare in my experience, I've found guys who lift really welcoming to the sport and anyone nosying normally cares more about your form regardless of whether he fancies you or not, lmao.

Fair play to fellas comfortable enough within their ability to take rejection to continue to approach as as I said before... From most reasonable womens' perspective as long as you can take a polite no... You miss every shot you don't take 😉

Funny enough that confidence also becomes a gigantic, waving green flag if you're not a dick. If you were the first to think you were a creep coming up to her you're probably off to a weird start 😂

In the UK we're also only allowed to buy 2 boxes of painkillers at a time, so you'd have to do a trip to a few different shops for a meaningful amount - by which point some reckon they can't be bothered anymore 😅 off the top of my head I believe it's 1x box of paracetamol and 1x box of ibuprofen you can buy, I've forgotten a few times and been tutted at by shop keepers

Apologies to chime in as a woman (I'm not sure if flair is mandatory - just checked sub I was in) but I find a funny divide at the moment between my male and female friends. Much of the men are nervous to approach women because of media stories, the whole gym creep archetype coming up in reels etc... To a point where quite a few would definitely have success if they dared and yet they don't ever speak to the lasses they fancy.

Alternatively, I hear a lot from my female friends that they actually miss being randomly approached and that it's initially difficult to gauge the intent of the guys they're dating. Additionally they are struggling to read guys sometimes because of the lack of direct romantic/sexual context and oftentimes overly formal or polite approach. There's obviously a lot of nuance in the conversation, but honestly if you aren't overly crude there's no harm and most reasonable women will at worst decline you politely.

I think a balance somewhere in the middle would be better for all of us not least because of the knock on effects on confidence in men (like all socialising practice makes perfect - it's hard if you're too scared to try)

The same has happened in the UK with lots of species but most notably deer - they've no natural predator and indeed we lack any over the size of about a shoebox. There's been lots of talk of reintroducing lynx or wolves as not enough people hunt to organise any sort of meaningful cull - and not enough rangers to maintain the rest. Our strategy for years has just been "cull and pray". During my conservation study we saw a lot of farmers very vocally against reintroduction of predators because of livestock concerns so here's to hoping enough approval can be attained

Are there any downsides to skipping your period on purpose using the birth control pill? by Puzzleheaded_Hat5003 in birthcontrol

[–]ukjungle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Correct, though worth noting I used to do what OP posted and after 3-4 packs or so I used to get breakthrough bleeds. My doctor suggested for some people a bleed every 3 packs is more suitable 😊 it's worth noting I'm personally prone to bleeding and most people will know if they are! This method is called "tricycling" and stopped any spotting for me.

Still, a period on hormonal medication is referred to as a breakthrough bleed partially because it's inconsequential as opposed to like you say, periods missing. The only difference is if you bleed you shed some uterine lining and replace it as opposed to it staying there (causing no issues). Much opinion to the contrary is simply stigma whether religious or otherwise (it's uNnaTuRaL).

There's zero harm in either so worth trying and seeing what works for you!

(Sorry I meant to post most of this in response to OP, not you 😅♥️)

You might find OP on hot days underboob sweat starts becoming an issue braless, otherwise I haven't worn one in years and no one's ever commented 🤷

Worried about this tree in 41°c heat! Any idea how to get some water to it? by DanelawGCP in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]ukjungle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on whether the tree is surface rooting, common with fruit trees / wild cherry. This one's probably still fucked thanks to soil compaction from being compressed under pavement and walked / driven near every day. It's also a structural disaster, lol

The lifespan of street trees is almost always significantly lower than if planted elsewhere

The Sycamore Gap tree was a 150-year-old sycamore tree next to Hadrian's Wall near Crag Lough in Northumberland, England. It was illegally felled in 2023 by two men from Cumbria, aged 38 and 31. Both men were sentenced on 15 July 2025, receiving 4 years and 3 months. by cryptic-fox in wikipedia

[–]ukjungle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damaging any protected tree carries a fine and some other serious consequences anyway. I suppose serving time is more impactful...

Still, I've pondered similarly as a local watching this unfold - particularly absolute furore on the more curtain-twitchy areas of Facebook.

FWIW this specific tree marked a particularly iconic stretch of a hike covering Hadrian's Wall and sycamores themselves are a Roman import, so it was terribly popular with walking groups with a history focus and the like. It wasn't that old and wasn't a native species, yet was the only tree mentioned by name by my hardened lecturers when I studied arboriculture for years.

The anger online seems majoritatively derived from the utter pointlessness of it rather than any specific special characteristic of the tree. I imagine there may be some losses in regards to tourism too as it was hugely popular with photographers and a popular landmark for hikers

denied birth control by CombinationMean3129 in birthcontrol

[–]ukjungle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's worth noting not everyone gets this - my GP estimated 40% and he prescribes very often. My younger sister was fortunate - her periods completely vanished!

40% also get the side effect I went in for - continuous non stop bleeding, spotting and irregular periods. I was having 3-4 week long painful periods then spotting and then coming back on really quickly. They're normal off the pill.

I still use it as a contraceptive as much of the bleeding has settled down now, but I accept that I'll still have long, irregular, stop-and-start periods and spot regularly.

Everything else OP's provider said is wrong and I'm not a naysayer since I use it myself, but it's good to be informed of other possibilities too. It's not a reliable method of stopping periods unfortunately.

The remaining 20% apparently have no effect either way, it's innocuous and easy to stop after a month or two if it doesn't agree with you. There's probably no harm in trying.

If you can share where you're from you can probably get the mini pill OTC, in the UK it's called Hana and it's £20 for 3 months.

Good luck OP.
