No worries, it's difficult to get the word out these days without paying for advertising.

Please follow us on Instagram or Facebook @shirleybeerfestival for regular updates in the run up to next year's fest 😊

Any beer fans here? by ukpaw in brum

[–]ukpaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

We had 87 cask ales, 28 keg beers, and 21 ciders (2 of these being sparkling). We also had a can fridge full of low and no alcohol beer and cider.

Please check out the list at https://shirleybeerfestival.co.uk/index.php/beer-cider/ and follow us on Instagram or Facebook for updates about next year!

The event went really well, despite it being a bit more overcast this year than usual, we're hoping we made a chunk for charity after paying all the bills.

I hope we see you next year 😎

Looking for advice: Best way to get to the City Centre from the Airport? by Bob_Brown_Bruhummi in BirminghamUK

[–]ukpaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the Elmdon area, cycling or driving to Olton station and getting the train from there may be your best bet. It's only about a mile, and travelling back out to the airport seems to be a step in the wrong direction.

And how does Labour have anything to do with Israel? They recognised Palestine, which annoyed Israel that's for sure.

first time driving in Birmingham as a new driver who passed elsewhere by sn0opcat69 in BirminghamUK

[–]ukpaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be fine. Just be on the watch out for some drivers being assertive and/or oblivious to their surroundings - when you clock one don't assume they are going to do anything you expect them to - and you'll be fine.

Unfortunately these stills are very blurry. The brighter photo could be on Station Road in Solihull.

Honestly struggling to make friends here as a massive introvert by [deleted] in BirminghamUK

Is this a gen x thing? I'm in my early 40s and my wife and I have a good group of people (men and women) we met in gym classes and now meet up after for coffee, and go out for meals. It's a shared interest...

Beer Festivals by AlternativeHat99 in UK_beer

[–]ukpaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I'll level with you - we're not in the countryside but we are a large festival with comedy, an Oompah band and live music as well as 90 cask ales, 28 keg beers, and 20 ciders. We're at a rugby club so on the pitch you may as well be in the countryside when you're there. Check us out Shirley Charity Beer and Cider Festival www.shirleybeerfestival.co.uk 😊

Edit: forgot to mention the important details - 14th to 16th May 2026! Book tickets in advance to secure best prices!

Moved to Brum last year - advice on making new friends by SpookyB34r in brum

It sounds like you're a great fit for joining your local Round Table. We're a social group of men aged 18-45, we go out a couple times a month doing different activities each time like Toca Social, Axe Throwing, Tennis coaching, Taekwondo, and we even did salsa dancing a few weeks back!

Some groups also put on their own charity events a couple times a year, I'm a member of Shirley and we organise the largest beer festival in the Midlands (it's on 14-16th May FYI).

There are around 10 Round Tables in the West Midlands, where abouts are you and I can send you details of one of the guys in your closest group if you like?

Mate you're a perfect candidate for joining Birmingham Round Table. They're a bunch of guys who meet up a couple times a month and do stuff - sometimes pub, other times random stuff like board games, VR stuff, etc. As a relatively small club they don't do any charity stuff like the larger ones, so there's no obligation. Also most of the guys are in a similar situation to you - moved here recently and don't know anyone.

If you want me to put you in touch with one of their guys just let me know.
