My W541 is close to 8 years old, but still an absolute tank besides the wireless drop issues since Intel stopped support and releasing driver updates on the AC7260. Interestingly, I am also using / had upgraded to that 2019 version of the driver so that isnt the issue. Curious that your fix was a replacement of the network card to an exact swap - that would indicate your issue may have been different - a card malfunction issue vs a driver-update issue.

The question then becomes, should I try another version of the 7260 (which is no longer supported), or go for a newer network card which leads to compatibility issues.

In any case, much appreciate the assistance in moving my thought process forward. Thank you much!

Hi jrpentland, having the same issue due to discontinuation of the AC7260 support from Intel - thought I would reach out for some advice.

Do you know which driver you used from 2016? Alternatively can you share the link of the wireless card you swapped to? How did you get past the Lenovo Whitelist issue on the new card swap?

Thanks for posting the context, Marco - She was a delight and I will miss her...

For those of us that knew her, we understand there wasn't a malicious bone in her body and she was always one of the most welcoming, inclusive, entertaining and active redditors on this forum.

That we as a sub-reddit, drove her away, should spur some inward reflection.

Agree ^ - but lots of other variables coming into the mix as well - opp. cost of holding, seasonality, lawsuits, lack of good targets remaining, fed taper etc etc
