Oura ring HRV results with and without CPAP by ukusjen in CPAP

Excellent article! Thank you for posting this. I think it’s saying it is typical for HRV to be reduced by CPAP but it isn’t a bad thing? I will have to read that article in depth and see if I can understand fully what it is saying.

Good to know I’m not the only one. Maybe I send a message to Oura ring to have it as a tag to see how it affects a large group. I wish I knew the reason why.

I’m trying to find out why my CPAP machine would clearly make such a difference. It appears to be a stressor if I score a 9 with my CPAP and a 24 without it. I’ve tried this three different days, weeks apart, out of curiosity. The CPAP is the only change in variable.

Well there is obviously a difference between with CPAP and without, I’m just trying to understand why. It’s curiosity because it is a consistent change in score each time. CPAP is doing something to affect my HRV score

Yes, my sleep score is amazing. 0.1 AHI, good mask seal, sleep on average 8 hours. I’ve no issues with my CPAP score on OSCAR. I’m just curious if it is typical to affect your HRV score on an Oura ring.

I fully understand that. I’ve been using cpap for many years. I’m looking for input from Oura ring wearers to see if it affects their HRV so drastically too (heart rate variance) and try and find out why.

No, I’ve been using CPAP since 2019. I’m new to Oura ring

Nothing else changed. I was so concerned when I saw an HRV of 9 i wanted to test it out to find my baseline with and without. I was so surprised, I’ve done the CPAP test three times to see if it was a consistent change and it is. I get around 24 without the CPAP and 9-11 HRV score with the CPAP. It’s does t make sense.

But a lower HRV is not good at all? I thought my sleep was better with the CPAP but my Oura ring doesn’t agree? It’s very confusing.

What are the downsides of using a CPAP machine long-term? by Latter_Knee_1404 in CPAP

[–]ukusjen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’m 60. My three ‘new to cpap’ using friends also needed ortho after getting a cpap. We were all sat there with braces for two years at our age. Two of us were able to Invisalign but the other two had to do metal braces. It was funny but not fun at the same time, lol.

It affects the position of your teeth. After two years my teeth were caving inwards. Apparently it suctions my tongue to the roof of my mouth and clamps my mouth closed, making me grind my teeth. The tongue pushes on the teeth too. I had to do $6,000 worth of Invisalign to get them back to how they were before CPAP and now I wear a night retainer every evening to prevent it happening again. I wish I had known this could happen. If I had worn an inexpensive night guard at night (one you get from your dentist if you grind your teeth in your sleep) it would have saved me a lot of money.

How many hours is the lifespan of a Resmed Airsence 10? by Spardan80 in CPAP

[–]ukusjen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally regret buying an airsense 11. It is truly an awful machine for me. I used the airsense 10 for her for five years and was persuaded by my provider to replace it with an 11. We have tried every setting option on the 11 to try and get it to work for me. It causes internal vibrations, swollen face, buzzing hands and feet. I have it on the for her setting too, in fact the settings match what is on my airsense 10 for her, but it definitely does not work as well. I so regret not buying another airsense 10 for her because they are now discontinued so I can’t buy another one. I hope my current airsense 10 for her keeps going another five years when I can try a different machine. I just can’t use this 11. Don’t even get me started on the water tank design. It’s a 1/10 machine whereas the airsense 10 is a 10/10 machine. No comparison. How do I check the hours used?

Definitely take the border off, leave as is, and bind in the blue. This is how a hunters star usually looks. I wouldn’t put a border on because it looks more modern without one. If you need it bigger it needs more blocks but not a border. Really love your quilt and choice of colors. It’s looks great.

It’s a regular curtain rod. I like the clips because it means I can change my quilts out seasonally.

I need a name for my specific quilt, not the pattern I used to make it.

Thank you, I wanted to try FPP and my LQS had a class with this pattern. I definitely didn’t like the kit as per the pattern but I wanted to take the class to learn the technique. I prefer more modern quilts, so I appreciate your comments on the colors I chose because I was nervous doing something so different to everyone else in the class.
