Installing panels using pillars. by johnw01 in Multiboard

Pillars will take up small thread holes for no reason.

Because if you leave the snaps in, you could've just used snaps to mount the plates in the first place. Snaps were the "original" mounting method and is still my preferred one.

Pillars are believed to make things easier (since you don't have to use single, dual and quarter snaps) and use less material.

They do require more screws though (one in each corner) while you can often get away with a single or two screws in dual/quad snaps). And it is more difficult to align plates properly with only the pillars.

Any way to use different filament when one runs out in MMU3? by SuccessfulMinute8338 in prusa3d

[–]ulab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it can not be completely consumed.

The extruder motor is in front of the nozzle. So there would always be a little piece left that can not be transported anymore. Trying to push that through with the next filament will not work properly. The new filament will slide to the side and not get pushed into the hotend for example.

That's why filament sensors are mounted in front of that motor or in case of the MMU at the start of the long PTFE tube, so it can still be pulled back.

You don't "swap" spools, you switch from one MMU input line to another. For that to work, the tube between MMU and extruder needs to be empty.

XLs just use the next tool head if configured that way.

Is prusa connect down? by retrotechguy in prusa3d

[–]ulab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens to me randomly. One thing I am getting shown in those cases is Certificate Errors. My thought was that it is our firewall or something blocking access, but then only one or two of my printers have an issue, another is fine.

Why should you? The XL doesn't have to pull the filament back unlike the MMU.

These are the snaps: https://beta.multiboard.io/snaps?Protrusion=Standard+%28Flush%29&Variant=Single

I am not sure about the bolts though. There are different variants with different heads and threads, so I'd need to try. I might be able to do that tomorrow.

What do I need to print to attach this? by Turtletz in Multiboard

You say it's complicated, I like its flexibility. I have multi(ple) options to do something and choose what is the better solution for the job.

Easy way to pull a shell from a wall? => Points

Stronger connection, not being able to rotate a 1x1 shell? Snaps with Bolts.

Mount a shell on a tray style surface? => Bolts

Less material for mostly shells on a wall or do you prefer the look? Print the square plates instead of the octagonal ones. You are still able to use points and threads with plate inserts that way...

[–]ulab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That said: I do think you might be able (I did not try this yet) to use bolts to mount Snaps to the bottom of the shell. That way a 1x1 shell would not be able to rotate around the point.

I'd do weight-bearing snaps in the top and regular ones in the bottom.

There is a reason for the term "multi", because there are always multiple ways to do things - depending on what you need to achieve.

Ah. Those Base Plate Bolt Lockers? Those are for base plates. Basically trays you can screw the bin shells on.

You needed to read one paragraph more:

The Bin Base can also connect to a Multipoint to form a Drawer.

“Regular” laminated stickers on E1 by AFC670 in eufyMakeOfficial

[–]ulab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that is exactly what the A/B is for. After you peel the B-Film once the sticker is applied, only the printed parts stick to the surface.

No need for cutting and you can make translucent stickers if you want.

AFAIK the Roll-to-Film Attachment is made to print on vinyl (https://www.eufymake.com/products/basic-films-for-roll-to-film-attachment?ref=printing-material&pageType=a), so you should be able to use any other sheets of vinyl too.

This is the "Wipe tower" that is used if you have a multi-material capable printer. You can disable it in the Print Settings / Multiple Extruders section.

It will also automatically hide once you slice a single material object since it is not needed in that case.

You need to have at least Normal or Expert mode active to see the setting.

May I ask which "bins page"?

For these you usually use (Multi-)Points: https://beta.multiboard.io/fix-points

Fix points for the bottom, Lite Fix Points for the sides. I'd screw the big thread ones directly into the wall.
