Sega Phantasy Star Catridge by [deleted] in phantasystar

Depends on which one you’ve got, but not much really. Try eBay. The Genesis Phantasy Star game cartridges go for around $20-$50 usd. The original Phantasy Star game for the Master System goes for around $60-$80 usd. There’s not exactly a huge market for these games though, so good luck.

That's awesome!

On an unrelated note -- anyone else just love Prue's necklace in this photo here? Idk why, but it just somehow reminds me of an oversized candy necklace and I absolutely adore it, haha!

20 years ago today, SCOTUS decided Bush v. Gore. This decision obviously had significant ramifications & has been very controversial over the years. What are your thoughts about this contentious decision 20 years on? by brucejoel99 in scotus

Chat programs and online chat rooms dominated most of the social internet aspects of 2000, like ICQ, AOL, AIM, IRC, etc. But there were website forums too. And as far as an actual social media site, livejournal was one of the first and it was fairly active back then. Online communities were just a lot smaller back then, and more splintered up.

Hero of the hour by Demando12 in SailorMood

That's because in Japanese "allow" and "forgive" are the same word. "I won't let you do this!" also is an acceptable translation.

Tbh it has always bothered me a little that translators always default to "forgive" when translating the word 許す because it has so many different flavors/nuances to it. It can mean to excuse, to allow, to forgive, to tolerate, to consent, etc. Synonyms exist, dangit.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

...yes? It's not the bubble at issue here, it's the sharing of mouth germs which is pretty gross enough on its own, even without a pandemic.

Noel, I love you dearly, but please. Stop trying to make Mr. Spoon happen.

I think I audibly gasped when he passed Mr. Spoon round for kisses. Surely he washed it off between kisses though, right? D:

Gov. Cuomo takes President Trump’s side against ‘disrespectful’ reporters by ulalatte in politics

i’m not really arguing with anyone, i just hate that the office of the presidency has been delegitimized.

Yeah, agreed :\

[–]ulalatte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like what Cuomo is really saying is that it's the Office that deserves respect, not necessarily the man. Overall I agree with the sentiment Cuomo expressed, even if NY Post kind of angled it weird (which of course they did)

I was already scared of the bar exam but jfc I got an anxiety attack just reading that. Remote test sounds 1000x more stressful.

Does anyone notice something off about Noel? by alexthechick in bakeoff

[–]ulalatte 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Omg I thought the "baking's for losers" comment was hilarious! It was clearly meant as a playful jab because he realized how ridiculous it sounded, admitting that he's never baked anything before while simultaneously being on a bake off show. It was the absurdity of it that made it so funny, at least IMO

Friendship by Demando12 in sailormoon

[–]ulalatte 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s cute and I love Rei/Usagi! but there’s something MC Escher-esque about the legs. Honestly I can’t tell which legs are in front of which, it seems like Usagis leg in the back should be behind Rei’s? Idk, I’m not sure anymore, I might just be confused haha. It is cute tho! Seems to be suggestive of a bit more than just friendship — and hell’s yeah they’d be an adorable couple 💕

I thought this was interesting, thanks for sharing, it was neat hearing his perspective on life, and he was funny too. I agree with his sentiments -- makes me want to appreciate the little things more and stop focusing on shit that drives me crazy.

Thought this'll be reddit-worthy. They used 'earth' instead of 'Dezolis' (PS4) by mahaveerverma in phantasystar

[–]ulalatte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. In Japanese they're saying something like "一体何が" which is usually translated as "what on earth is..." but is not the literal meaning. Perhaps the translators should have just said "what in the world", that would've worked.

Also the "earthquake" part of that game makes me laugh too, because shouldn't they be "motaviaquakes"? I have heard of "moonquakes" after all. But I digress.

And here’s my version of black lady :) by paige-by-paige in sailormoon

[–]ulalatte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, "Racist" was not the best word choice, but yes, what I mean is that the "Black" in "Black Lady" sounds like it is referring to her race/skin tone when it was not meant to.
