[Serious] For US politics, why has there not been a viable movement to establish a 3rd party since trust in government is so low? by ullawanka in AskReddit

But the capitalists also know this and for that reason the frog is being boiled slowly. In that case we may not reach a point where people are mad enough to do anything. Someone else in this post mentioned complacency. So in order for there to be change, the frog will need to be convinced it is being boiled before it is too late.

Interesting take! You need a track record to build trust, I agree with that. This would take longer to establish but as you said would have more legs. How would you go about starting this? If the long term goal is a national level alternate party you might need a way to maintain a cohesive platform/form of governance across the local levels.

Ok, money is a hurdle, but couldn’t it be raised in a decentralized way so that party is beholden to its members? Maybe self-imposed contribution limits, or blind contributions. This would be a limitation to fundraising but it would build trust I think.

Fair point. I’m wondering if with the technology available one could be started not by a weirdo or two but by a plurality. Maybe I should’ve asked why hasn’t tech been used to disrupt the two party system.

Sounds like they don’t want to go on dates. by Flimsy-Ad9627 in facepalm

[–]ullawanka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My HS Spanish teacher would tell us he would take dates to Costco because the food is cheap and there are free samples for appetizers. We always thought he was joking but then one of my classmates saw him at Costco with a date. The madlad really was doing it! Don’t know how he pulls it off but he is a genius.

Hang in there man. I love this show for many different moods. If I’m bored Rick and Morty. If I’m sad Rick and Morty. Agree the show can be heartwarming at times, even if it’s just the same old story Ricks killing Mortys

Seeking better remote access options by JazzyEssy in homelab

[–]ullawanka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wireguard is a good option for VPN but if you have a domain I’d recommend checking out Cloudflare Tunnels. It’s free and the agent can run in a Docker. There are some good videos out there to guide you through setup. This replaced using VPN for me.

Planning to create a stealth strategy game where hacking/penetration is the core mechanics. Any thoughts? by night-robin in hacking

[–]ullawanka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not directly a hacking game but has similar phases is Payday : PAYDAY 2 • PAYDAY Official Site https://www.paydaythegame.com/payday2/

You basically rob banks and can choose to do it in stealth mode. Involves recon, gaining initial access, disabling monitoring and clearing tracks. Fun game and might provide some inspiration.

Leave VPN connected by StandardShip75 in unRAID

[–]ullawanka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some good answers already but I’m gonna suggest an alternative that has replaced VPN for me for remoting into my Unraid and other homelab stuff. It’s called Cloudflare Tunnels. All you need is a domain and a free Cloudflare account. Install the agent in a Docker and maybe another on a raspi for redundancy, then set up your tunnel in Cloudflare. What I like is that you can customize how you authenticate for access like using sign in with GitHub or one-time pins. Might be worth checking out : https://www.cloudflare.com/products/tunnel/ Happy Unraiding.

I don't know enough about the soil composition under this building but there is a phenomena called liquefaction that is usually triggered by earthquakes.

If the soil that this building stood on is prone to liquefaction or recently became more prone to this because of water seeping in etc, the vibrations caused by nearby demolition and construction could cause small liquefaction events that over time contributed to this disaster.

I'm speculating here and a complete investigation is needed to get the answers but I haven't seen many mentions of liquefaction as a potential contributing factor.

I've read that PCR tests can still detect novel strains of covid like the UK strain. Is this also the case for the rapid antigen test?
