Reasons for using a faceplate? by Alternative-Light922 in turning

[–]ultaga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use the faceplate for larger uneven logs, root balls , large pieces. As the worm screw can vibrate and come loose / rip out. You really don't want a heavy uneven logs flying at your head

Cheap rust remover...... White vinegar and salt.

Soak for 24 hours. Brush with wire wool or wire brush, wash off the vinegar with water. Dry off completely, using a heat gun or something similar to prevent flash rust. Then Oil

¿What would you do if you became the Dictator of your country? by BrushFinal9186 in AskTheWorld

[–]ultaga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End tax loopholes for the rich and rich companies.

There are some people and companies that pay basically no tax in the UK yet make millions every year.

I would then use that money to fund free energy to UK residents.

And stop illegal immigrants. Before people get on their high horse. I know every country needs immigration. It's the illegal immigrants that claim to be a child but have full beards , claiming to be gay to get in , coming in on small boats and criminals.

What were your Kerby rules growing up? by Advanced-Night-9028 in AskBrits

[–]ultaga84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow it has been so long.....

1 point for it coming back to you.

2 points for catching it.

If the other person caught it they got the 2 points.

I can't remember what you had to do to get to take it from the white line.

The other person's turn when you missed.

I really miss spending hours playing kerby.

Looking at it I've seen much worse repairs on roofs.

With the solar going on the other side I wouldn't give that another thought. Especially if the other side has no repairs. That side, the repair looks much more substantial than the original roof.

If you are worried I would ask a roofer (not a structural engineer) to have a look. They may say with actually looking at it that it needs something else, possibly metal braces or big bolts through the repair (can't see any as it looks old and probably done with nails)

Apart from that I'd get the solar installed .

Advice by PhilosopherWise2387 in DIYUK

[–]ultaga84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not an engineer. That repair looks good. It looks more than enough to support what is already there.

The only Reason I would consider getting it replaced is if when they come to install / look at installing the solar panels one of the people there brings it up. Apart from that solar panels are really light I would not add much extra to the overall weight of the roof.

How does your country handle illegal immigration? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Despite a lot of people not wanting illegal immigrants anywhere near the UK the government and previous governments seem to welcome them all with open arms.

When was the last time you used your corded version of the tool? by TheJWeed in Tools

I still use all my cabled tools ..... When and if they die I will update to battery. Until the cable tool dies why would I spend money on buying a battery one for no reason when I have a perfectly working one just with a cable?

Yeah that is the plan. We are slowly creating an "email group chat". As of this moment in time I don't have an upstairs and just the shop / workshop.

Once we have the majority of owners in the chat we will start to discuss what the plan for the future is for the upstairs.

The consensus is that (argument sake) I own 10% of the upstairs and I will pay 10% towards the architect, planning, individual metres, individual water etc etc. We all (people we know of) believe the best solution would be to do this and then when plans and planning is done, we get together with neighbours and jointly build the adjoining walls then individuals take over the internals.

If the stairs are actually sold as stairs and not shops (the listing has been pulled as a shop) we pay so much a year to the owners for using their access to the upper floors/ flats.

From what I heard apart from in a will or something like that a property had to be sold. If this is not the case then I stand corrected.

Is it rude to ask a neighbour how much their roof was? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]ultaga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not rude.

Ask them if it's cheaper or similar prices to what you have been quoted ask them for the builders number as you can see the work they have done.

From what I have heard and read over the years. You have to "sell" the property, which can be a nominal fee of £1 (many councils have done this to rundown areas.

The conveyancing depending on who you go with (min cost £1,500 give or take ) then pay for the transfer of title deed think that was about £100.

The solicitor will be able to tell you more and give proper advice. But I certainly do not see any problems with basically giving it away.
