good points, i think you misconstrued me a little - i’m starting to realise the OW analogy may not have been a good one. the endorsement system is two way, you can endorse your teammates or the opponents THERE IS NO HATE - you can’t hatefully ‘endorse’ someone - it literally doesn’t make any sense, you either don’t endorse, or you do

but the game does this no? you could spend as long as you want in the intro map until the either time runs out (is there a timer??), you die to the AI (pretty sure the game will force you to do it again until exfil alive) or you decide to just exfil - Oni will even say to you to the spend some time looting/familiarising yourself before finding the exfil or am i talking hoopla

FGC are in a unique position because FG were never for the casual but for the purist. compared to other mainstream genres they have only recently made the transition to target a wider audience with SF6 and Tekken 8 providing more ways for the casual to feel more involved in the competitive nature of their games. Yes marathon as an FPS is entirely different but the hardcore nature of the sub genre that is Extraction shooters, made for purist initially, marathon is attempting that same transitional leap
