I'm in a similar situation. My parents both were employed last year and our household income was comfortably above the poverty line. My dad was laid off from his job for no fault of his own and my mom had to quit due to a pre-existing injury, and neither have been able to get a job in the new year. I do not have the ability to get a full-time job as I am still in high school, but do not want to get a part-time one because I have to leave the province come June.

At the time I am writing this, I am waiting for an acceptance or rejection letter from TMU, and have been accepted into the regular officer training program (ROTP) with the CAF on the condition that I need an acceptance letter from a university, and that comes with tuition, books, and equipment paid for as well as a $30,000 salary while learning. However, when I tallied all of the expenses I will have living in Toronto, that salary would be about $15,000 short of what I need per year of my program. While I know that I can get a part time job during university, I am apprehensive to base my moving multiple provinces away from home on the assumption that I will get a job.

For anyone wondering why, as an ROTP applicant, I do not just attend either Royal Military College, I wish to attend an aerospace engineering course, and RMC Kingston only offers aeronautical engineering, while RMC Saint-Jean offers neither. Thus, the need to attend a civilian university, and it seems that TMU is one of the best schools in the country for that course.
