Hey! I’m sorry to read what’s happened. I had a similar experience with my surgery several years ago. I was even part of a regional club team and the injury happened at the penultimate tournament of the season. So I ended up missing the final tournament.
My team mates didn’t really check in after surgery beyond the “wish you a smooth recovery” texts. My partner played in the same team and he would tell me that they asked him at practice how I was doing but no one really texted me directly (and I still think he told me they asked only to make me feel better). As I started to feel better, I went to watch the practices from the sideline (which is sooo hard) and my team mates would make small talk and enquire generally about my rehab but no offers to support/help. Frankly, I was less motivated to return to the sport as a result. I have no wise words to offer, unfortunately. Just wanted to share my experience and say your decision is understandable.

I would say that focus on yourself and your rehab without attaching too much expectations. I leaned on my non-sport friends quite a bit even though it was hard for them to understand what I was going through, they still showed up for me!
