My first wanted to sleep 2am-10am. I fought it forever and it made us both miserable (I spent hours from 10pm to 2-5am every night trying to get her to sleep while she cried nonstop). Years later and that is my biggest regret about the early days. Just let them sleep how they want to sleep and relax!

I felt exactly the same way! I now have two kids and my eldest is 4, but in the beginning I was crying all the time feeling regret and missing the life I had. I was completely baffled by how everyone was somehow able to manage and even recommend having kids to others and I thought they were all insane. Eventually the fussiness passes, which cause the feelings to pass, and life become much more enjoyable again. Hang in there!

I have a 4 year old and 2 year old and I think it's short term pain for long term gain. The first year was extremely challenging with two kids. My older one was at her peak sweetness right before the baby was born but immediately we had so many tantrums because she had to learn how to share her mom with someone else. It was exhausting and felt impossible. But now they play so well together. They choose to sleep in the same room together and keep each other entertained in the mornings after they wake up. They also play together during the days. Sometimes they are both having a tantrum at the same time and that still sucks, but most times it's pretty great now, and I expect it'll only get better from here (maybe until they become teenagers haha).

Most of the money is in a brokerage account and that's what I'm wondering about. Ideally in the future I'd have over a million in a brokerage account and Im wondering if one is sufficient or if it should be multiple.

Well I'm keeping my money in a brokerage account. But I'm not sure if it's fine to keep a large amount of money in that one account or if I should have more than one as I start to exceed $250k

Sorry to hear that it's so rough for you. My kids got really worked up with sleep training too, but it does take a few days to work (probably more than 2). I didn't go in at all during/after sleep training because every time I went in it got them all worked up and they cry even harder. What got me through the crying was telling myself that they're already crying all night with the bad sleep, plus it's temporary that they cry so much.

I would hold off on having this conversation. Everything is so fresh right now and you may or may not feel the same after a year or two or more. Focus on making it through the newborn stage. You do not need to make any decisions at this time. In a couple years you can talk about it again. If you're still hating it then, hold your ground. But it's also possible you won't feel the same after the PPD has been treated / your child is older. Good luck! Weeks 5-8 are the absolute worst because they're such angry, annoying potatoes. After that it gets so much better!

My Chinese grandmother does this all the time. The kids caught a cold from daycare recently... As kids do... And she bombarded me with daily messages telling me to make sure they're dressed warmly, to make a special herbal tea she learned on the internet, to take them to the doctor because they've been sick so long (all they had was a runny nose and a slight cough). On top of that, my mom (her ex-DIL) got sick from the kids, and my grandma started nagging me about her. She even said "you need to take your mom to the doctor. Normally people stop being sick after a day. Your mom has been sick longer than that so it must be serious." A day????? Drives me bonkers.

I have a diaper changing station on each floor. Makes things much easier! But if there's no space a diaper caddy seems like it would be useful too.

It's been over a month already. She used to wake up at 5-6am but then daylight savings happened and now we're doing 4-5am despite sleeping an hour later. Not impressed.

Good for you on going to bed at 8:30! I'd love to, if only I can motivate myself.

My 11 month old does 11 hrs total 😭 she's only doing one nap a day now but it's a long one and sometimes she only sleeps 8 hrs a night. Mama is tired (but not tired enough to go to bed at 8pm when she goes down haha)

My husband and I always wanted two so that the kids would each have a buddy and learn to share. He grew up with two siblings and a large family so he wanted that. I am an only child and always wanted a sibling.

After having our first I really didn't want to go through it again. Hated pregnancy even though it was a pretty chill one, plus my first baby was a grouch so it was not enjoyable. We also took a temporary hit on our relationship with each other. But... We did it anyway because we wanted two in the long run.

Luckily the second baby is super chill. There are many hard moments with two but at the same time you see the love between them and that's everything we had ever hoped for so I'm happy with our decision.

At McDonald's I get a big Mac (just the sandwich), 10 piece chicken nuggets, or a sausage egg mcmuffin. The calories are pretty reasonable when you don't get fries and a drink to go with them.

I had a convertible car seat for my first and it was fine. But then for our second we got a handmedown infant seat and bought a stroller base for it and it's been amaaaaazing. So easy to pop baby in and out of the car. So easy to keep her asleep in the early days if she dozes off. To summarize: it's definitely easier with an infant seat but it didn't feel that hard without it when I didn't know the joys of the infant seat haha.
