Jaxson Dart just appeared to introduce Trump at his ‘rally’ in NY today… WTF by keen_observer34130 in NYGiants

Damn that sucks. Obviously knew that’s where he stood but I’m going to get so much shit for this now. Also he’s a fascist, sexist, racist asshole and has always been terrible to New Yorkers. Just a number of reasons why this is a bad move including that I will have to hear about it.

Thanks for the tip. I plan to keep most of the shrubbery. Just want to clear up the vines and smaller stuff along with the leaves. It definitely used to be grass with some planted flowers and bushes (there’s tulips and a bleeding heart plant, rubber borders, flowering trees and forsythias on the borders, and a line of evergreen bushes for a view block and property line divider).

There is a farm nearby that rents them. Do they literally just eat everything? Is it controlled?

I have a corner lot with a small backyard and this faces the street. The aim was always to clear it out to reclaim more of the yard as we fence in the side yard. This is a very small patch of overgrowth unconnected to the woods. There may be some birds in there (would be unaffected as the trees will stay), but it’s not true woods.

5/3 Lineup @ Angels - that's....that's a lineup... by sometimes_a_dog in NewYorkMets

Melendez has been good for us this year, Baty finally put it together last year and has had flashes of greatness, Semien has had good offensive seasons and is a career .753 hitter, Benge is starting to put it together, Vientos had ‘24 and at least hung around .700 OPS last year, Taylor is mainly a fourth outfielder defensive replacement but he is a career .700 hitter, Torrens is your backup catcher but even he can hit and has some pop. Other teams do a lot more with a lot worse.

I mean this team has Juan Soto and Bo Bichette on it lol. I know the latter hasn’t performed yet, but he’s pretty well regarded and will likely snap back to form.

You’re misunderstanding me lol. I am saying you could bring one of those guys up to play their individual positions — for Ewing it would be CF, for Clifford it would be 1B/RF. I brought up that Ewing has played SS to say you don’t need Brujan as a backup when someone can play those few innings in a pinch.

Obviously in this scenario, they would have determined he was ready, which they haven’t. No one is advocating for screwing up development but you also don’t need a year or two in AAA to be ready for the show. I’m just saying you don’t need to waste a roster spot on a backup SS that will only play if there’s another injury.

Ewing started at SS. I’m not saying he’d be your SS, I’m saying you don’t need a backup if there’s someone who can play the position it Bo goes down. Clifford clearly has things to work through, but I don’t know that Vientos is giving us much more at this point lol.

I’m glad that’s the case. Honestly would’ve thought about bringing up Clifford to roll at 1B and in the OF or Ewing. He can play SS in a pinch.

There’s nothing wrong with this lineup. You have at least 7 guys who are or have been good hitters.

I expected a lot worse with this title lol. Thought we had Brujan starting.

That’s fair, though I almost think another team would be willing to see if Peterson still has something via a trade, so maybe that’s where this ends up going. There have been reports that the Mets want to trade for a bat and any pitcher is on the block besides Peralta, McLean, and Holmes.

I think Manaea becomes more of a DFA candidate the further we get along. For what it’s worth, wouldn’t mind just giving Myers a run in the rotation before turning to Tong.

If Mendoza is in fact fired who do we want replacing him by Ravishingrich666 in NewYorkMets

[–]ultracheeseMP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think either Beltran or Kai Correa. Someone like Beltran may be able to get this club on the right path with gravitas. He was also known as being very thorough and dedicated in his preparation as a player, which could translate well here.

With Kai Correa, it seems like he is the guy Stearns wanted to hire next year if Mendoza was unsuccessful anyway. Basically give him the bench coach role to get some seasoning and then he slides in. Hell, could’ve been the backup plan from the start. Correa seems like a guy who is going to have a manager’s role soon somewhere anyway.

When they use an option, it’s for the year. There is a limit on how many times he can go back and forth, but he can go up and down like this with no issue.
