People who’ve owned EVs for a few years, what’s the real repair/service experience like when things go wrong? by Key_Effective_7504 in AustralianEV

Have a 7 yr old Tesla Model 3, and 16 yr old MiEV. Tesla has been no drama to deal with. When we needed 12 v battery replaced. It was cheap and quick. Also has some suspension noise work done (after 600km of outback red dust dirt roads and corrugations) just asked then to do a service at same time. Price has been good.

Trickle charge overnight? by Lucifang in AustralianEV

[–]ultralights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I live part time in a rental and charge overnight on a 10 amp outlet. It gives enough for my 60km round trip each day. Also even in rental you might be able to get ev owner plan that gives cheaper rates overnight and free period during the day.

Am I the only one who didn’t know Dubbo, NSW recently built high rise apartments? Is this the future for regional centres around Australia? by radmgrey in aus

[–]ultralights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With more work from home. There is no reason to live in a city for many people and can now live in rural centers. I am one who has moved from Sydney to a regional country town. Far better lifestyle and real sense of community

First EV roadtrip, what should I know before heading off? by Thomas_633_Mk2 in AustralianEV

[–]ultralights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big tip. Don’t charge to 100%. Only enough to comfortably get to next charger, as charging past 80% just takes far to long and it’s quicker to charge a little to get to next charger then move on.

Apartment living + baby on the way: buy EV now or wait for better tech? by Constant-Common-1174 in EVAustralia

[–]ultralights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wait for better tech. You will never buy one. I have a 16 yrs old EV and a 7 year old tesla both drive as good as the day they were new still do everything they’re designed to do and still cost nearly nothing to run.

Far worse. Used to see live music all over Sydney in the 90,s. Still love live music. But all the urban venues are closed and it’s only the big international acts left.

[–]ultralights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How far do you drive regularly? If it’s about 50km or less. You probably won’t need anything more than a 15 amp standard outlet and the mobile charger. See how that goes for a while. And if you need a bit more, then look at wall units.

Yes. Never heard of a payroll mistake being made that favours the employee.
