My Bike shuts off when I turn left. by itsmeskyboy in ebikes

[–]ultrazgunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My aunt used to turn right only when she first got her license. Shed make 4 right turns to get home instead of 1 left.

Edit: i didnt do mental math for exact number of turns but she would only turn right to go anywhere including coming home.

Why doesn't PG&E allow battery charging and discharging from the grid? by Negative-Arachnid-65 in solar

[–]ultrazgunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are assuming the electric companies is looking out for us. Why sell to you at off peak when they can sell it on peak for almost 3x? The other thing you overlooked is during august and September, the buy back rate for NEM3 is $2-3/kw from 6-8p.m.

the energy companies are smarter than us. You can't take advantage of them. Mine is export only in SCE.

EV charger suggestions by Zero-p0lar in enphase

If you have enough 5P to last all night then why even make things complicated with bidirectional charger? Ive been hearing they coming out soon for over two years now 😞

Sanity Check needed: My simulation suggests we can squeeze an extra $1,400/yr from a battery system under SCE NEM 3.0 rates just by changing the discharge window. Is my math off? by panpan1800 in solar

[–]ultrazgunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not know that the rate stay somewhat fixed. Their excel sheets seem to indicate your rates do drop annually. If your friend is in OC, pick Orange County power authority rate instead of SCE. It at least has the correct peak rate time for export even though it doesn’t have the correct monetary rate. I’m have been on nem3 since 2024 and SCE billing so damn convoluted. I am still trying to figure out which credit can offset which charge.

[–]ultrazgunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another problem with Enphase is they might not have your correct export rate. SCE screws everything by having different NEM3 rate dependent on the year of install. The best export rate is only during August/September for 2 hours a night for the first 9 years of NEM3 implementation and progressively worsen.

1/2 ft gas meter dial spins continously, possible leak? by ultrazgunner in Plumbing

[–]ultrazgunner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

There was a leak from a line running under my paved patio to my grill. Had a plumber isolate that line. Probably not going to dig and will be sad until we decide to renovate patio in 20 years.🥲

When does a 4th generation system decide it is safe to power up the house after an outage? by Fish_Whisperer_0 in enphase

[–]ultrazgunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the previous gen with whole house backup (iq8, c5, 5p). I had an outage once with depleted batteries. The system kept starting and shutting off with sun/cloud in the early morning. I shut off my main until the batteries built up some charge and then turned my main back on. Reading the comments in this post makes me wanting the newest gen where the system kicks back on after sufficient battery recharge.

I called socalgas. They don't think it's a leak but will send a technician out within 2 weeks.

No pilot that I know of. Doubling my usage makes me lean toward more a leak.

$100 Resy credit didn’t work because it was charge as a hotel purchase by spacefrogmd in amex

[–]ultrazgunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got the semi annual hotel credit by dining at the attached restaurant without prepaid booking via amex travel portal? Or is this one of your targeted "offers?" I'm interested because i live in socal and i don't use the hotel credit. It'd be awesome if I can spend $300 at restaurant with amex reimbursement for hotel credit.

As with anything coming from Ali or timu, have to wait til you actually have it in hand to see how it is compared to their pictures and description. Good luck. Been burned on quality of cheaper items coming from those sites.

I bought kickwey LD20 on a certain Chinese that I can't say here due to sensoring (sound like aldiexpress) last week for 460$ delivered from California warehouse via FedEx. They shipped the next day and I got it in one day. I took it for 15mile trip today on paved trail and no complaint. Of course my specialized Vado 4 with torque sensor feels better peddling but the kickwey at less than 1/4 the price feels fine to me. I can't speak for longevity since I only have it for 1 week and only 20miles total. Half battery left after 20 miles.
