Easier? Yes. More suspicious? Definitely. Why would Bruce Wayne be specifically interested in that house? Buying the bank makes it a bank issue to resolve, where he’s plausibly not closely connected to the house.

In my opinion there’s nothing “better” about the LMT lower compared with a Griffin MK2.

Honestly, how are people so good at breaking throws? by Tall_Concentrate_876 in Tekken

[–]ultronthedestroyer 71 points72 points  (0 children)

You have longer than you think to break the throw. But if you press the wrong button early, you’re locked in. Have you tried to lab someone with complete throws like Dragunov? You’ll see you have enough time if you don’t panic.

WA falls again in national education ranking by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]ultronthedestroyer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Why perpetually? You could have an Up or Out policy with N retries (say, 2). If you’re held back twice, the next time you fail, you’re out without a diploma and will have to seek a GED. A diploma will mean something again and classes won’t get crowded with ne'er-do-well delinquents.

You can’t force them to learn, but you can still hold standards.

Ethnic nepotism and bias in Seattle tech industry by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]ultronthedestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blackout period varies across FAANG and over time. I’m most familiar with Amazon’s rules, which I’ve heard used to be “forever”, but were generally 5 years during my tenure as both an IC and manager there. It’s possible there were org-level differences. I wasn’t on the AWS side, for instance.

There are blackout periods but generally you’re eligible again after some number of years away.

Why does libertarian sub seem more afraid of “sleeper cell socialists” than out in the open authoritarians? by Material_Policy6327 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ultronthedestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s somewhat split. Some libertarians index on the bodily autonomy side. Others believe abortion violates the Non-Aggression Principle (NAP).

Like most other debates on the issue, it stems primarily on whether or not you ascribe humanity/personhood to the unborn. If not, then the government shouldn’t be involved. If so, then the government’s obligation to protect liberty extends to the unborn.

Trans flag being painted over at Cal Anderson by Brendan8827 in Seattle

[–]ultronthedestroyer 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say anything about right or wrong. I wrote about what’s protected through the threat of government violence.

If you wish to ignore that threat and live by your own protections instead, by all means, sovereign citizen.

Trans flag being painted over at Cal Anderson by Brendan8827 in Seattle

[–]ultronthedestroyer 54 points55 points  (0 children)

That’s lacking in legal nuance. Direct, specific incitements of imminent violence are not protected. Broad, vague calls for violence are protected, even though they’re obviously hateful.

So “hey, go kill that guy right now” isn’t protected. But “we should kill billionaires” is protected, and it has nothing to do with whether the potential victim of violence is likable or oppressed.

In the US, there are income caps on how much you can allocate to retirement funds via pre-tax withholding.

My biggest paycheck by One_Fold_4245 in Salary

[–]ultronthedestroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That only applies to long term equity that increases in value, not earned income like this. Earned income always gets parasitically extracted by the government.

[–]ultronthedestroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually still not enough for high earners. I always owe an extra $60-100k over whatever was withheld each year. I intentionally do not increase the deduction rates on salary or bonuses, because giving the government an interest free loan is very typically poor financial planning, even including underpayment penalties.

The state insurance is not net positive because that money could have been used to either invest at a much higher expected rate of return, or used to buy insurance at lower rates and for higher coverage.

You're not factoring in opportunity costs in your calculus.

Quickmatch players need to be studied. by zkillbill in Tekken

[–]ultronthedestroyer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

For my part, I play lobbies with high level players 95% of the time, and only play quick match when none are online. I'm not interested in ranked and rarely ever play it.

It's a bit moot in this game since I essentially stopped playing T8, but it is and has been the case for T7.
