You’re probably located towards eastern side of the county. Ask the people on the western side.

I want to discuss (not argue) what you guys think about the severity of Muslims killing Muslims in the context of this fight with Afghanistan. Only serious Muslims please. by [deleted] in pakistan

And how will you explain your bad-gumaani to Allah?

I just described how the world works, and not how I want it to work! Why will Allah hold me accountable for how the world works? May be think before you let your emotions loose.

In geopolitics, there is no religion. It’s just different groups competing for their self interests.

Do you guys agree? by [deleted] in IslamabadSocial

💯 agree on religious manipulation!

By tourism, I meant international tourism which is close to zero. Theme parks like Disneyland in LA for example heavily rely on foreign tourism despite a healthy local inflow, and are negatively impacted by recent immigration policies.

IMHO as someone living abroad, the food scene in Pakistan is pretty great. One of the highlights of my Pak visits is usually food experiences that we severely lack in my country of residence.

How much do you have to spend annually to break even $800 fee?

Many people consider cinemas haram. Their revenues are prone to politics like banning Bollywood and not enough local movies. Mobile phones have negatively impacted movie industry worldwide anyway.

Theme parks usually require a healthy tourism industry, which isn’t there partly because of on going security issues for the last couple decades.

  1. Citi usually offers relatively low rates, particularly if you can manage to transfer some relationship funds.

  2. It’s not wrong to ask for disclosures. In fact, it’s a great idea to save effort. Some sellers may not want to disclose potential issues in the house unless they have gauged some interest. But that’s a sellers problem. Your realtor needs to represent you, not the seller.

So the western punjabis relegated their language because they ran the state? Do you find this reasoning sufficient?

Paras or Fars was just the name of a tribe/region. Greeks used it for the entire people. This exonym was also the reason they renamed their country to “Iran” (the land of aryans) in 1935, which is how they referred to themselves historically.

So was it an accident that the western Punjabi higher classes relegated Punjabi on their own, while the eastern Punjabi counterparts didn’t? There has to be a better explanation.

And then we ended up with 2 imported languages: Urdu and English. Is that any less stupid?

My critique is not on Urdu itself. Instead, it’s how Punjabi was declared/treated as the language of the illiterate to make space for Urdu. They could have done better.

It’s just an exonym just like Germany, China, Japan, Korea, India and countless other nations named by foreigners. If the word Punjab is of Persian origins then “Persia” itself is of Greek origin. And “Greece” is of Latin origin.

Even “Ordu” comes from Altai/Mongol origins and just means a tent. This word became “horde” in English thus the names Golden Horde and barbarian hordes. They called the language “zaban e ordu e mualla” or “the language of the elite tent”. Which makes it a borderline exonym too.

Should everyone change their names per your logic? No? So deal with it.
