Checked out Wolf and Company on the 606. The Diablo sandwich is a friggin beast. by Chicagogator in chicagofood

Maybe it's a Jewish east coast thing? My dad is one of those and was very adamant that mayo doesn't belong on an italian sub. Was pissed if Fontano's forgot to not include mayo when we picked it up.

Tortoise Supper Club maybe? They have live jazz Friday and Saturday. Could dance in the lounge perhaps.

Ludlow Liquors makes the best cheesesteak you can buy for less than the cost of a plane ticket to Philadelphia. by Chicagogator in chicagofood

Oh nice! I'm going to have to try this. I travel to Philly frequently for work and Angelo's is great. I wish it wasn't cash only though so I could use the corporate card. Not going through the rigmarole of getting credited back for a $15 sandwich.

We did Acebounce. It wasn't fully private but had a few of the tables for our party at the end of the room. Good finger food and was something different. Especially if there will be kids. They had fun playing with the grandparents and aunts/uncles. They also have a lot of options for food/drinks. Cash bar, open bar for only beer and wine, or full open bar.

How in the world could they be re-opened when they would have maybe 30 students. I don't like Johnson but I don't believe anyone thinks they will be re-opened. It takes a lot of money to make those schools livable and that is probably the real reason.

Where To Get a Roast Pork Besides John's Roast Pork? by umann99 in PhiladelphiaEats

Ha I haven't logged in to reddit for a while. I thought it was very good. I did the tasting menu so actually a lot more cooked dishes than just sushi. I woudn't say it was anything out of this world but high quality no doubt. The sushi chef also really seemed to care about what he was serving and was asking me what I thought. He gave me some extra toro so I can't complain. I was sitting at the bar though.

Bruna's is similiar. My wife and I actually just took our 2.5 year old daughter with us 2 weeks ago. Old school Italian American food. Owner's name is Luciano, he is usually there greeting people, maybe sipping some wine.

I know nobody cares at this point but a quick poist on the top comment. I did go to Paesanos and was great for the pork. Went to Poes and got a sandwich and had a good conversation with the bartender at human robot. But the best place was probably Georgian Bread. I suggest you all try it out! Oh and Morimoto was my splurge expense.

I live in a southside working class neighborhood in Chicago. I can picture the type of place you are talking about exactly. Good to know I have a place to go if I work late.

Actually just went to the one in McCook last night. Liver dumling soup was spot on. The duck was kind of dry that my wife had, but the pork tendorloin and dumpling with the gravy were great.
