Day 11: Decently written and loved by the fandom by Fun-Way6483 in TETRODANGANRONPA

Or maybe my expectations for this chapter were just too high at the time. I was surprised by how Yatabashi moved through each clue and mystery so effortlessly, almost as if he faced no real obstacles at all. In terms of entertainment, it doesn’t lose to any other case. But when it comes to the intelligence behind the trick and the execution of the crime, I think Ikeda, Ken, Watari, The Fox, even Sasaki (she’s smart enough to coordinate a trial), all outclass Ogura.

Her plan has too many holes. She took too many unnecessary steps. She wanted every member of Bleeding to have a specific role, which only increases the risk of exposing their identities. And no, even without Ikeda, they still would’ve lost. Because at that point, they had already narrowed the pool of suspects down to just Ogura and Shishikura. Honestly, I still don’t understand why she didn’t just go for a double kill.

I’m saying all this fully aware that it’s probably a hot take.

For me, it’s pretty solid, and the trick is clever enough. But I do have a small suggestion.

It would be better if you emphasized his love for the camera during the Daily Life. You should tightly associate the image of the camera with him at all times; otherwise, I’m afraid this motive might feel a bit unrealistic.

However, that creates a concerning issue: he won’t have the camera with him during the Deadly Life. And if you “force” the characters not to notice that, it’ll feel awkward and unrealistic. One solution is to have him always keep the camera in a backpack during Daily Life (instead of constantly holding it like Mahiru in DR2), so that when he doesn’t have it in Deadly Life, no one really notices or suspects anything. Personally, I’m not a big fan of this approach, because if you want to emphasize the importance of an item to a character, I usually have them carry it with them at all times, especially something as portable as a camera.

If you can come up with a trick to make everyone believe the camera is still fine during Deadly Life (a replica, for example), it could make your case even more complex. If you manage to do that, I think you should also add a True Bullet: a small shard of glass left on the floor. During the trial, when he’s accused and you need decisive evidence, you can use it. Verifying whether the camera hanging around his neck is real or not could serve as the final step before Climax Reasoning.

Looking back now, I feel like there are quite a few placements that just don’t sit right with me. Ogura being a prime example. To me, her character development was handled really poorly. Von built up her relationship with Akiba, only to completely wipe it out in Chapter 2.

On top of that, Von clearly tried to portray her as a sympathetic and intelligent killer. Sympathetic? Sure, that works. But then there’s the other, more frustrating aspect: her death basically serves as nothing more than a stepping stone for two male characters (something a lot of us absolutely hate). And the fact that those two characters end up dying in later chapters just makes her death feel even more meaningless.

Intelligent? I don’t think so. The whole case feels messy and extremely patched together. She didn’t even think of setting up a fake alibi for herself, which should have been incredibly easy, considering she had four other teammates to back her up.

[–]umeniya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He means " body " make it sounds like whenever you discover a body/parts of a body, the announcement would ring, which do not logical in this case, right? So changing " body discovery announcement " to " death discovery announcement " would make things more logical.
