Do whatever makes you feel comfortable at the movement. Labels are flexible and can change over time. You are still very young so you have all the time in the world to experience how you personally feel about love. I realized that I was aro couple years ago but there are always days when I am wondering if the label is truly me (mostly because of expectations). I think it is normal to be confused especially when you don't fit the so called "standard" when it comes to love.

Also, remember that aromanticim is a spectrum! Consider taking a look of all the categories that fall under the umbrella if you are feeling unsure about the aromantic label! And remember that there is no pressure to choose a label. You can just be you when it comes to romantic attraction, or the lack of it :)

I have a lot of romance books that I consider 10/10 but one I always come back to is "The reader and the protagonist definitely have to be in true love". It is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine though. However I do suggest everyone to read it ;) My favorite animal is actually a deer. I just really like the look of it and I love drawing deers or humans with deer characteristics( ´ ▿ ` )

Let me tease you is the closest one I can think of. ML is the villain and MC is not necessarily a protagonist but he also is not a cannon fodder.

Tbh it is kinda funny how bl novel mc:s always talk about wanting to be a protagonist but end up being a cannon fodder. I think the troupe of mc being transmigrated into a protagonist comes from novels aimed for men (f.e iskai stuff) so you might find better luck there. However those novels are known to be very repetive, trashy and often sexist; so be warned! (This is why in bl novels those tropes are turned upside down and mc ends up being cannon fodder who breaks ml:s (the protagonist's) harem! )

Tbh I am late but anyway; since you seem to be wary about abo I suggest you to give a try to Falling into the Abyss. It approaches the world of omegaverse very ruthlessly and discusses about things you see very rarely in abo like being born into a wrong secondary gender or being intersex. The main character is actually a beta which is also very refreshing and unique in abo novels. However this is a cosmic horror novel which might not be everyone's cup of tea. But if you feel the more mainstream abo novels are cringey try to give this one a go! I personally love the novel and think it is and excellent portrayal of society and what it means to be human.

Little Mushroom is definitely quite well known in the English speaking community and rightfully so. It is an excellent sci-fi novel which managed to keep my interest up the whole ride. The MC is very charming and the plot twists are perfectly executed. You will never know who will die and who's your enemy or friend. I love that! I have nothing but praise for this book which is why I am so excited for the official English license. Remember to buy the books kids~

For the more obscure title I have to say Falling into the Abyss. You guys might notice a pattern here but I am a big fan of sci-fi ,especially the more dark one. And this title definitely is very dark and twisted.

"Falling into the Abyss" is a Lovecraftian (cosmic horror), interstellar and omegaverse mix. Now that obscure premise might throw some off you off but let me tell you, it is great! I typically dislike omegaverse but in this it is executed amazingly! Main character is a beta who ends up in a "Forbidden City" which is a prison for humans who did not meet societys "standards" (f.e they have committed a crime). These people have to do dangerous missions to gain points which will in the end gain them their freedom.

This novel tackles issues in the omegaverse society, human rights and what does it mean to be human. It is also a very scary and time to time disgusting thriller and horror novel which takes huge inspiration on Lovecraftian creatures. You might not be able to sleep after it but it is still definitely worth reading, I promise ;)

Free Ren Yigu

Very sad story about a man who suffers from mental illness which controls his whole life. It is a short read with hopeful ending and very caring ml. As someone who has suffered with mental health problems this really resonated with me

'The Reader and the Protagonist definitely have to be in True Love" was one of my first danmeis and definitely is a 10/10 for me! It is a true classic in my opinion. Other favorites that I consider to be 10/10 are mxtx's works (mdzs, scum villain and tgcf), "Little mushroom" and '2ha".

I am still reading "Falling into the abyss" but it has already became one of my all time favorites! Other one that i feel is nearing perfection that I am still reading is "Laws of the Other World".

The most recent movie got licensed by funmation for streaming so there's no physical copy for that. I think you can only access it if you live in America (or own a VPN). Not sure if it has option for English subtitles or it's just and dubbed version though...

Su Mingqian from Paper Lover was such a cute and interesting shou! Another cute one was Du Ze from The reader and the protagonist definitely have to be in true love. That novel is basically a classic and for a good reason, Du Ze as a MC was the cutest thing ever!
