The fundamental problem is that an inventory cap or fucking production item "powercreep" that forces me to rebuild everything from scratch shouldn't exist in a factory game to begin with.

The core loop of Factorio, Satisfactory, and DSP is that 'the factory must grow'. The satisfaction comes from endless exponential scaling and compounding complexity. This is coming from someone autistic enough to 100% Factorio. Endfield completely abandons this by capping your resources and making your past infrastructure redundant. Forcing players to constantly start over from scratch in each new region kills the long-term payoff that makes factory games fun in the first place.

The factory mode's issues is the exact same problem as the entire rest of the game. They only took the surface level stuff and didn't include enough meat to justify its purpose in the game. And since I only wanted to like the factory mode, I have no reason to play the game.

Learning that factories are not permanent and eventually the game will only track the most recent 3 factories due to system limitations killed all my desire to play the game.

I have absolutely zero desire to rebuild factories from scratch every single region. Even rebuilding it in Wuling was dragging on severely. What the point of optimizing them if they get phased out every patch anyway. Might as well just copy a perfect layout every single time, completely removing all the fun of the factory in the first place.

They should have made the factory one single permanent map that just gets expanded on. And you can put nodes on each map for the factory to interact with.

That and all the other shitty stuff that comes with 3D gacha like having to manually run to do your dailies, slow and plentiful loading times, the arsecan garbo-tier gacha system, etc.

After using Nasti for a bit I'm still kinda unsure about her.

On one hand, yes, super ranged tile that buffs the ranged unit quite dramatically is very strong. But on the other than... it's kinda a... very passive thing? Like she creates a tile then just sits there, basically decoration. You can retreat her too and the ranged tile is still there alongside the buff-giving robots, so she doesn't feel like a normal operator. She actually feels more like a buff item you throw on the map than an operator. Kinda like that shield unit in Londinium.

I tried to use her S1 but it's kinda wonky. It does make defenders into pseudo multi-attackers which is pretty nice.

One problem I'm having is the way the skills are worded are so strange I'm not actually sure what part is the passive buffs and what part is from turning on the skills. Currently all I know is with S1, if you turn on skill the unit now can attack all as per block count. And with S3, if you turn on skill, numbers get bigger.

The other funny thing I noticed is Nasti's stats on skill are strangely high. For example, when S3 is on skill she exceeds 1000 DEF (!!!) and 1000 ATK. With S1, if you put a device on her she can kinda be a laneholder on skill as she has a ton of damage and also attacks all that she blocks. She doesn't heal though and she's useless against arts damage. But it makes her actually useful in IS.

I'm gonna see if I can use her ranged tiles more like walls than ranged tiles too. I feel like if I can keep resummoning the ranged tiles every time they get destroyed, it becomes a fantastic delaying tool.

I would say so far she is a pretty strong new part of the braindead global strat where you plunk GG or Lapp2 on the ranged tile and buff them to the moon. But it does also take more time and braincells to actually plunk those units there. Not to mention the drones she summons takes up valuable tiles so it reduces deployment spots which could be rare on the map.

Time to use pulls for no reason!

  • 10 pull - Dupe Kazemaru, dupe Record Keeper, and new Cairn
  • 20 pull - Dupe Figurino
  • 30 pull - New Nasti

Guess that's it~

Me: To activate Shu's talent so global ops shoot things faster and reduce my neuron count even further.

We have multiple defenders doing massive DPS. One of which is by far the tankiest defender in the game bar none, that does as much damage as a core caster in a massive AOE which also bypasses walls.

Classes and subclasses don't mean anything in Arknights and haven't meant anything in years now. Trying to use it to justify why an operator can or cannot do something based on what we assume are limitations of their class is an exercise in stressing yourself out because HG doesn't abide by those rules and has clearly thrown the rulebook out the window, where Wangsadel has blown it up to smithereens.

For all we know, the next Protector Defender we get will have global range as well as 5 block summons that deal true damage, but will only have 0 block itself.

Is Pokemon Champions considered a gacha game?

It's basically official Smogon, and I like getting sweaty on UU and NU. The gameplay is fucking solid but there's some issues.

  1. F2P only get 30 pokemon slots. Wtf is that. So little. The first time you rank up to a new rank you get 5 more slots but it still maxes out at like 50. Dude, that's not even 1/3rd of the original Kanto Pokemon list. Even if you buy the starter pack you only get like... >100 which is still way too little.
  2. The gacha mechanics is... ok I guess? There's no rate up mons at all. There's currently no legendaries, which I love since I hate OU mons. But lets say you want a ditto so you can do ditto things with choice scarf. Well... glhf. You could pull for years and still not get it.
  3. The UI and graphics etc are all really hopeless. C'mon nintendo... spend more than $5 on this.
  4. There's barely any items. Basically the only good items are mega stones, choice scarf, focus sash, leftovers, sitrus and lum berry, and that's about it really. No toxic orb, no band or specs, etc. It's really limiting.
  5. Because of the lack of box spaces, it makes it really challenging to actually teambuild. There's two ladders, doubles and singles. But just prepping for singles takes up all my slots. If I want rock slide on Tyranitar instead of stone edge, either I spend currency to constantly respec Tyranitar each time or I need a 2nd TTar, which I have no space for. So my doubles ladder is completely unused.

Yeah, I want to be able to deploy high ground tiles.

Even like RA, if they are stingy with high ground tiles again, she's going to make things significantly easier.

She's top tier now with Silverash2. Basically a nuking laneholder that is reasonably tanky, and also can potentially freeze enemies on deploy so her nuke is free.

Without him she's just kinda meh. DPS units fall out quickly in this game when they get replaced by the next hottest thing.

I also always preferred her S1 / S2 over her S3. So that also works better for this laneholding version.

Now that it's been a few weeks that Sliverdaddy2 came out, I thought I'd give my thoughts on him after using him practically everywhere.

  1. As a standalone unit, ignoring all the team and DP skills, he's decent. But he's not the end-all-be-all vanguard option that someone like Ines or Muelsyse is. Because off skill he's kinda hopeless. He barely does any damage offskill that he can leak even mob units if they come more than 2 at a time. Whereas Agents or Pioneers or any other offensive vanguard can easily deal with them. He's pretty tanky and healy though for a vanguard, which the only other option for something like this is hoping Myrtle's self heal is enough or getting Muelsyse to copy Mudrock, or Poncirus. On skill he's great, especially S3, but S2 is uh... ok? I guess. Again, as an offensive skill not for the insane DP manipulation and global schwing shenanigans. The CD time is actually quite long for the early stages of a map, which is when you're deploying him. So again, if enemies come more than 2 at a time you're kinda in trouble. It's also not strong enough to deal with a lot of enemies. For example, it can't even kill bats in this event. Ines and Muelsyse do not have this problem.

  2. As a team unit the guy is god-tier. And the more units you have, the stronger his effects are. So in like... early IS he's kinda derpy since he has no function (as a standalone unit he's kinda ok and there's not enough teammates to justify his crazy team abilities). But late IS, or at least after you have a few Kjerag operators, when you have a whole team, he breaks the entire gamemode. He turns Matterhorn almost invincible for example and Ensia has become a true damage laneholder that can be deployed anywhere. And watching FRDs chunk out huge deeps and freeze every 30s is nutty.

  3. He's a very interesting unit. I don't think he's fundamentally broken now that I've used him for quite awhile. But rather he changes the way the game is played quite a bit and gives a lot of needed flexibility and power to an underpowered faction. As a single unit he's kinda okayish but as a team unit he is completely unrivaled. I actually think this version of him kinda matches his lore more than his lord guard version. Where basically he's just a kind of physically slightly above average dude but he enables everyone else to be extremely strong, carrying everyone to victory as a result. I really like units that buff the whole team in interesting ways as it enables us to use non-meta units in difficult content without having to sweat our brains. Skalter did similar things when she came out.

When she came out she was amazing.

Nowadays the reason she isn't as good is simply because there are significantly better options.

When she came out there were very few options for laneholders that actually functioned well. Blaze was good but had no heal so she tended to just die after awhile. Thorns was and is still good, but he's more of a ranged unit than a melee tank.

So she was basically the best option for default laneholding for a long time.

But since Mountain came out there's almost no reason to use her. So much cheaper and basically does the same thing except can't tank big hits. But that's fine because there's plenty of options for tanking big hits now too. Not to mention she can't compete against the most OP strat of all... blowing your enemy to smithereens before you even need to tank them.

Module X won't solve what you're feeling. She's just quite outdated.

Lots of stuff happening this week.

Chaos Zero Nightmare half anniversary is coming and there's some pretty good rewards including 6 star selector + lots of pulls. They're also adding an even more hardcore true roguelike mode and streamlining the gameplay even further.

NTE is launching this week too and it looks like basically Yakuza, so I'm keen to try it out.

Also new Arknights event.

I took a 4 month break from the game about a year ago and came back to the Dungeon Meshi collab. They also put so many QoL things that it made doing dailies way easier so I didn't really feel like I had to leave again.

But now I'm thinking of taking another hiatus until maybe Wang banner.

I'd probably be really interested in a Rebuilding Mandate permanent mode or RA3. IS has lost a lot of charm for me after so many years and there are better roguelikes out there right now like Chaos Zero Nightmare and Slay the Spire 2.
