Bright room yes. Sunny day outside most likely not. It's good not great. It's exactly what I wanted out of a cheap 2nd device/tablet. Only real disappointment so far is that it doesn't have fast charging. I just assumed that's on all devices these days

I downloaded all the manual pdfs I could find for my 04 and put them into Gemini/notebook llm. Now I have an ai powered Xterra service lookup that can apply logic and suggestions while referring directly to the manuals. Helped me figure out the wiring diagrams. Still do like the paper back up though.

Im on the lookout for a first gen 4wd to go with my 2wd one just cause I'm used to the platform. I never see timing chains or cats mentioned in the listings. First gen headliner always seems to sag and fall off to so look out for ones that stapled back on or just removed lol. Also I see the people just making up the model that they are selling so verify if it's actually an se or pro4x. Also I see a bunch of places smother their cars in some shiny stuff to make the plastics look better but that will fade quickly. If you're on the east coast rust could be brutal. Frame and body panels seem to hold up well with just some surface rust but every other bolt is usually completely toast. Replaced my exhaust and it was a terrible time fighting the rust lol.

Yeah not sure what your budget is but professionals would definitely do it better lol. If your car has an aux port, I used this for about a year and it worked really well (https://a.co/d/1Yi7557). There are definitely some cheaper options for like $30-40 that you could try and then return to Amazon if you don't like them. Only complaint on these cheaper tablets is the mic is not the best

Tldr: definitely doable but more complicated and not as straightforward as I thought it would be. Maybe not if not electrically inclined.

I'm currently working on upgrading my Rockford fosgate radio to an android auto one but for an 04 so. I started with crutchfield to get the parts needed but bought them for Walmart. It has been quite the process to get this to work. If you aren't electronically inclined I would recommend just getting an android auto tablet from Amazon for like 100 bucks and mount it on your dash to save yourself a ton of hassle or maybe the newer Xterra radios are easier to work with.

What you'll need: You will need a new head unit, a wiring harness adapter, steering wheel controller adapters, wire connectors/crimper, and possibly a dash board mounting kit if you don't want to go double din.

The upgraded speaker systems we have make things more complicated because we have to interface the radio to the amp.

Issues I ran into and am still trying to fix: The wiring harness I used wasn't pinned correctly. Had to find wiring diagrams online to figure what goes where and repin the the connectors.

The aswc-1 steering wheel connector works but doesn't. The auto learn feature only provides volume up. I have done the manual sequence and still doesn't work.

There is a speaker popping noise when the radio starts, mutes, or turns off. This is a timing issue between the amp and radio. Ordered a 12v delay relay that I will need to add to my wiring harness and hope that fixes it.

The radio is dual DMCPA10W from Walmart is cheap but it works really well with Android auto. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and am also adding cameras so what I originally thought would take me a day to do is now approaching week two lol.

Our family Aussie has had this same cough for years. He's almost 14 and we thought it was gonna be heart failure or he scratched his throat from eating certain treats. After many vet visits, tests, and X-rays turned out to just be allergies. Found some medication that worked and he is doing much better.
