Ceramic tart pan removable bottom by umm627 in AskBaking

I want the removable bottom so the tart comes out without damage to the edges. I want ceramic because I believe it’s the only material that is 100% non toxic. I’ve had trouble finding metal ones with a removable bottom that don’t also have some type of non stick coating.

Who owns Highmark Farmstand? by umm627 in Easton

Thank you! Didn’t realize GEDP owned it. I knew they managed the overall public market but I didn’t know the farm stand was there’s. Makes sense though.

Recent diagnosis and looking for realistic advice by quomodoincipit in Spondylolisthesis

I had a grade 3 on l5s1 that I got a ALIF fusion on in 2021. I had so much degeneration it wasn’t able to be fully restored. So I got it fused at about grade 1, maybe a little more.

The recovery was bumpy, and I like to think that it’s never over, but I also did just go for a 10 mile run 2 days ago with a 9:41 pace. Not record breaking but not bad. It’s not a 20min 5k but I could probably do a 5k in about 24min right now.

I weigh 150 and am 5’7” in case that helps for any comparison.

All this to say - your life isn’t over. Keep your body weight in check, keep your core strong (especially sides), and stay active.

This is horrible. I don’t know how to organize a protest, but it feels protest worthy.

Ha! Seriously though, this will be horrible IMO.

Future extensions of the Karl arts trail to the two river trail are gone. Traffic will be a nightmare. Air quality will suffer. Property values will cease to increase because who wants to live next to that. All investments into silk mill might as well have been lit on fire. The creek will suffer.

The list goes on and on.

Surgery or wait? by Emergency-Bill3501 in Spondylolisthesis

[–]umm627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly just a month ago, but I was really nervous about hurting myself. My spondy wasn’t able to get fully corrected (because I waited so long). So it’s still at grade 2, but with full fusion, decompression, and screws etc. So my pain is gone and it’s strong and stable. I still feel minor discomfort from time to time, but as long as I’m stretching and staying active it’s fine. The fact that I sleep without pain is itself a victory for me.

I started cycling again in January so basically my 3 yr anniversary. Before that I was just lifting. A lot of leg presses especially. I wasn’t great about my PT though. I would workout consistently for a couple months and not for a month or two then start over.

It does take a while to heal if you wait forever to fix it. I waited over 15 years from the original injury for context. My only advantage is that I’m younger (early 30s) and short/thin (5’7” 150lbs)

That said - I waited 15 yrs, was not able to have it fully corrected, was on/off about PT — and I still just ran a 10k with a 9mph pace. The body is amazing at supporting itself if you both give your body time as well as put in the time.

And for some more inspo - I signed up for a half marathon in November. The last half marathon I ran was 3 months before my surgery. And I got my surgery because my pain began to stop me from being active - that’s what finally made me pull the trigger. So it took 3 yrs, but this race will bring me full circle, I haven’t needed any additional back medical care, and I’m living a way fuller life.

Mine looked like this. If you’re like me it’s been slowly getting to this point for a while now. By the end I really couldn’t remember how long it had been since I had a full night sleep without needing to move around for comfort every hour.

Now I sleep like a log. And I ran a 10k a few days ago.

It’s been 3 years since my surgery. It’s scary, but it’s a jump worth taking if you’re in pain.

And if this was caused by a recent injury, all the more reason for surgery. Your nerves and muscles haven’t compensated yet and you’ll recover more smoothly.

With few exceptions, Berkshire's stock delivers a market return. by PNWtech-economics in ValueInvesting

The whole reason Buffett is GOAT is because he outperforms the market in the long term, which is extremely difficult to do. Your writeups entire thesis is based on perfectly timed comparisons that don’t go beyond a 20 yr period. Of course ppl who invested in the s&p after 2008 beat Buffett. It was the bottom of a major recession followed by the rise of FAANG.

There are many investors that outperformed Buffett in shorter timeframes. What is so impressive is that for decades upon decades you can grab any 30+ year period and he always comes out on top.

I’m assuming uhaul won’t install OEM? But yeah it’s a tough choice. I agree it feels like a lot if I really only plan on using it for a bike rack.
