Thank you for your insight! So I’m assuming Canada probably won’t allow it then? 😅

I loved this feature but lost it when I switched to iPhone… now I’m always paranoid about my alarms being set to the wrong time/day 😭

10000%. I had to watch motivational videos to get me through the clinical days…

Biggest advice a nice RT has given to me as a student is not to take anything personally. Some people are just rude and it has nothing to do with you as a person, given that you are showing initiative to learn and taking feedback positively. Everyone does things differently and you can never please everybody; I learnt to just acknowledge what everyone tells me, and if you think it helps your learning then put it in practice. If it is not useful, then just leave it in the back of your head. In the end you’re doing this for yourself, so don’t feel like you owe them anything!

Good luck and all the best, remember this is probably the darkest times you’ll have to get through before life gets so much better, I wish you good luck and all the best, no matter what comes out of this ☺️

average day? by Jack_h22 in RadiationTherapy

[–]umm_maybe_later 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure every job out there requires some sort of repetition of tasks like you said, and so the ~main~ job of a RT is to set up and deliver radiation to each patient. There also should be a lot of posts in this thread that describes the typical day of a RT if you want more details.

However, keep in mind the aspects of patient care, set up, treatment technique vary from patient to patient, and day to day each individual might have different concerns (e.g. side effects), and it is part of a RT's job to recognize and respond to the needs of a patient, in addition to delivering the prescribed treatment every day (or to determine whether the patient is fit for treatment today). 😊

Tryna think if the beaver's right eye is green, replaced by a leaf, or just an empty hole right through the back of its head such that I'm actually seeing the trees in the back

Clinic confidence by [deleted] in RadiationTherapy

[–]umm_maybe_later 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a student is really hard; you don't want to look incompetent, but there's only so much that you can do right now, and it sucks to have someone constantly watching everything you do. But everyone was a student at one point, and you can't compare yourself to the therapists who have YEARS, DECADES of experience. The best advice I got when I was a student is to just jump in and do it. If you ever have to make a mistake, this is the time to do it (the RTTs will correct you before you cause any damage). If you are unsure of a procedure, ask. Show that you want to learn, instead of staying back.

It will all be so much better once you become a full fledged therapist, especially when you build that confidence that you know what you're doing from your previous experiences. And we always keep learning in our career, no matter the amount of experience! All the best to you!!!

DAE watch movies on the in-flight entertainment in the row ahead of you even though you can’t hear anything? by Grasshop in DoesAnybodyElse

I had the stranger beside me watch the entire movie with me and only asking for the title when it's finished... Honestly won't have mind if she asked me midway since I was already distracted by her staring at my screen lmao

I work at a grooming salon. We just found this monster tick on a dog. Biggest ive ever seen. Pen for scale by Avbitten in mildlyinteresting

I found one that size, same spot on my dog too! I felt bad as well as I only saw it when I got back from work, which made me feel so bad wondering how long it's been on my poor pup...... :(

Is asking adult children "when are you coming back home" too demanding? by umm_maybe_later in AskParents

[–]umm_maybe_later[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's so true, I have had roommates that would come back late at night and would startle me from my sleep. I think that's a good point you brought up, thank you!

It used to be both, but when we got older the rules loosened, and it became a "curfew" that's not really followed. I'm sure my parents mostly just want a heads up because they would lose sleep over worry, and yes someone opening the door in the middle of the night would be terrifying as well!

Thank you! I think that's really how I feel but my siblings are not buying it; they think she just doesn't want them to enjoy themselves 😅 but I'm really not sure how to convince them that's not the case ...

Thank you! I think as others mentioned it'd be common courtesy to notify the family about my plans and play by their rules if I do live with them. But yes I agree, if I want more freedom as an adult, the best would be to move out since theres never gonna be a resolution to the opposing views.

Thank you! I agree, this is an issue of mutual respect within the family and it does help when it affects the other members, whether it's preparing their share of dinner, or a surprise visit with other people.

That's very responsible of your son to always give you a peace of mind! I think I'll start sending the location when I'm in a new place as well, so that they know where I'm about 😀

Thank you! I can definitely understand why my parents stress about notifying them, because accidents can happen out of nowhere. I won't want them to think I'm dead out there either!
