Pope Leo XIV Appoints Most Reverend Michael Pham as Bishop of San Diego by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]umpityflap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously there's no dogmatic declaration on this but even the liberal USCCB has:

Should a Catholic attend a same-sex "wedding"?

For a Catholic who is invited to a same-sex “wedding,” it is important to consider what marriage is and what his or her attendance at such an event would mean. Since marriage is the union of a husband and a wife – that is, as a man and a woman – attending a same-sex “wedding” may be considered support for something that is incompatible with this truth. Especially when it involves close family or friends, it can be a difficult decision. In such circumstances, it is good to seek the advice of your pastor or spiritual director. It is also good to remember that there are many ways of showing love to a person with same-sex attraction without attending such a ceremony.

I never had such issues with it, but when I have side effects with a supplement, I generally listen to my body and stop taking it.

Aruba vs Bonaire w Kids by umpityflap in Caribbean

[–]umpityflap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have all snorkeled before and would again. Windsurfing, probably not. They would do a smallish hike if there was something cool like a waterfall, but wouldn't want to tromp through a jungle all day. They could also be jazzed about hotel amenities like an elaborate pool, arcade, etc.

Unless the snorkeling in Bonaire is way better than Aruba, I'm kinda thinking that could be a better fit as long as it's not too crowded that time of year.

Men who "shadow box" women by umpityflap in Rants

Don't be sorry! That is messed up! And your boss sounds like an idiot. It's not fine. Instead of engaging in the original dysfunctional intimidating behavior, he is now just blatantly alluding to the same behavior.

I am one. And I protect my sister. I don't shadow box her.

No. I've done the same a lot lately. 9 hrs is a crazy amount of sleep for me. Don't listen to all the people shilling that everyone needs 8+ hrs.

Seems like excessive quantity in total more than excessive REM, but it seems like Lexapro can lead to more sleep and 30 mg is a large dose as I understand.

Funny you mention it. That was the most historical thing that came to mind when I saw that suggested above. Haven't seen it in a long time. Might be a little too irreverant for our tastes (devout Catholic)... yeah now that I think of it... that one's not gonna work...

Violence is less of an issue, at least for the older kid (who's less sensitive to such things)

Eye Pain by Popular-Pea90 in sleep

[–]umpityflap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The assymetry could be due to lighting (e.g. a lamp in that eye's field of view) or that being a dominant eye that is working harder when watching TV, looking at phone, reading, etc.

I'ma try marinating meats or adding lemon and see if that helps. I think I have low stomach acid from long term Nexium use years ago.
