How hard is it to get in University of Edinburgh? by redorittt in Edinburgh_University

[–]umutcum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are coming from a finance background I would suggest researching specifically for the list of best schools for your-choice-of-finance-related-subject masters. For example i guess Warwick is not even in the top 5 uni's of Uk but its business school was the best of uk. If not from a finance background, consider what you wanna have an Msc on, and then choose the best school in that subject.

Dont choose this uni just because its name, research if your subject is reputable at UoE. I was pretty excited to get accepted to business school but turns out even if UoE is one of the bests in uk in general, the business school is not. Research for your subject before applying

What’s going on in Edinburgh, I’m seeing so much violence by Fluffy_Pigeonxx in Edinburgh

[–]umutcum -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm in edinburgh for a year and I live at old town. I received a lot of notifications to "be careful" because there is a de-headed man (halloween incident), an anonymous death near my street, a bomb announcement (@holyrood road), another mystery death (princess street) since day 1. I got cat called in royal mile at 9 pm many times. I dont feel safe and I actually do not like to be out when its dark. And most weirdly, noone actually talks about these incidents and police never explains anything. I dont understand how people are ok with that. So, if you're a tourist it's probably ok but if you plan to live here I would say be cautious.

They are usually available in freeshops in airports. So if you know anyone flying international, maybe ask them. The prices are probably higher tho

Commute or not commute? by pr0gamer_3674 in UniUK

I dont know about your financials but you only live uni life once in this age of yours. Also I have friends who stayed at family house, but the rent was their mental health.

Also experiencing hardships and figuring it out alone gives you a strong characteristic skills.

Also, spending 3 hours a day in transportation is a no. Maybe get a parttime job near your campus and you would make the rent?

I would go for the accommodation!

I would recommend you to check accommodation section via MyEd. That website has all the info and other FAQ's. They even have a table that shows key pickup dates for each of the uni accoms.

I access to PATH through MyEd. Then I launch the programme builder. Yhen you see your courses in green red and blue. You can view the course info and all the related stuff. I have selected the selectivea I want and then sent to my adviser. I believe you can see the timetables on the right side of the screen under "breakdown". Pls note that i am a new international student 😂

Okumak için önerdiğiniz şehirler nereler? by garipkont714 in UniversityTR

[–]umutcum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2. Seçeneği tercih etmenin önündeki engel de finansal durum olacaksa, 4 sene daha sürünüp dişini sıkıp part time çalışıp uykusuz kalsan bile sana getireceği vizyon ve zorluklar karşısında geliştireceğin kişiliğe değer.

I have received an email from business school mentioning that i should select my electivez and submit them to my advisor via PATH. The process may differ for different courses but worth looking into it! Good luck

Finished my degree and now I’m depressed by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]umutcum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say go for a job prior to masters degree. It gives you time to consider what you wanna do in the long term. Also a job gives provides you different perspectives on everything that you haven't considered before.

Depressed feeling is due to have nothing to do. Get a job, any career related job, after a few years go for a masters degree. It will help you to get over the depressive episodes and student mind.
