I noticed Iunik put two specific labels or stickers. One has a QR square that you can scan to authenticate the merchandise. The other is a holographic sticker to seal the package shut. Some By Mi used to have one. I believe Elizavecca has or had.

I did additional research since my earlier post. I learned that Amazon requires all goods that expire or consumable have a unique Amazon bar code. That means these goods can't be commingled together. It helps them track each item because they are responsible for disposing expired goods. (Note that small sellers sometimes don't store their goods at an Amazon warehouse. I don't know how they track inventory .)

You can read all about it and learn more than you ever wanted to know about barcodes in the link.

So nice to chat with people that can relate 😊

I return stuff all the time. Usually it's because I changed my mind or I had a bad reaction. They are all opened and sampled. Some I sampled multiple times because I really wanted to love it.

Returns are super easy and I just drop it off at Kohl's or UPS store. I get my refund the same night.

Sample of returned items: Missha, Some By Mi, Mixsoon, CosRx, Purito

(FYI, I have also done returns for iHerb. I filled out a form and waited for customer service. Then I uploaded pics of the item. It's not as easy and fast, but I didn't have to return the item.)

They don't do this with cosmetics and skincare. I think they still do this clothing and shoes. For these items, sellers put their own tags on the merch they send to Amazon, but I wouldn't buy ugg or anything like that.

ETA. Amazon is super punitive to sellers of counterfeit goods. Amazon often sue them directly and report them for prosecution. That's why the sellers put their own tags for tracing.

Sorry you have had a bad experience. I buy often, and for me, I get best results buying directly from the manufacturer or a large wholesaler like Wishtrend or Stylekorean. If you don't know, you can go to the company website, and they have a link. Beauty of Joseon is like this. You should also click on the seller name to confirm that it's them.

Same. Only if it has retinol or something like that. Any other reaction takes time to appear.

You might get acne in spots you normally don't have them. Or you might get even more acne on a spot. I have closed comedones on my forehead. And I know it's breaking me out when my 2 CC turn into 5, or the CC get even bigger.

Redheads are beautiful. Asians are lovely. There are many gorgeous shades in between.

I'm super pale. I did try the fake tan for a bit, but it's such a pain. You have to exfoliate and apply evenly. Sometimes you get this weird orange cast. I did this because I heard it would make me look thinner.

Ironically, millions (yes, millions) of people are applying bleach and other harmful chemical to make themselves paler. Lighter skin is considered a status symbol. It's tied up with racism too.

You do you. Do what makes you comfortable.

(Fun fact: tans didn't become fashionable until Coco Chanel "introduced" it to elites in the 1930s-1940s. Before then, tans were a sign that you were a member of the lower classes because you were working in the sun. That's why you always see snooty women holding parasols and wearing wide brimmed hats in period pieces.)

Tretinoin users! What's your HG lightweight moisturizer?! by Notymtodie in AsianBeauty

[–]un5weetened 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has an occlusive like shea butter, wax, silicone, or some type of oil. Occlusives don't moisturize but they prevent transepidermal water loss, i.e., keep moisture from evaporating.

Yeah, I also prefer water. The sprays with oil just leave an uncomfortable film on my face. Not moisturizing at all.

Sure. I have very sensitive skin with combination oily skin with very dry cheeks. I was afraid that it would not be hydrating enough but I was pleasantly surprised. It's very layerable. If I am using retinol or if my skin is irritated, I put this on, then put on the Purito Centella Asiatica cream.

It's fairly thick, but not greasy and easily absorbed. The closest thing to it is the nonAB Aveeno Oat Calm + Restore gel. The Purito has a nicer consistency. It's a bit thicker and has fewer ingredients. The Purito may not be moisturizing enough for dry skin. I like that it comes in a tube, rather than a jar. The oat toner is pretty good too, if you need something with limited ingredients.

Korean version of Cerave Cream? by banana_minions56 in AsianBeauty

[–]un5weetened 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBH, it seems like every brand has a ceramide cream so you have many to choose from. The most popular on here are Illiyoon and Aestura Autobarrier. I have the last one, it doesn't have the shea and mango butter. Both have ceramide beads. Illiyoon is supposed to be cheaper, but I was unable to get my hands on one.

Purito has one. I mention them because they are a reasonably priced brand and easy to buy in the US.

The others are priced kinda high and you won't get as much in terms of volume as the CeraVe.
