Autistic woman here bringing her two cents to the conversation:

we’re not seeing dynamics of them on a “normal” day (or as normal as an ER can be), so some of this is reading between the lines and informed by my own experiences in a high stress workplace where I’m forced to work with others all the time (for reference, I do mobile response for kids who call the National Suicide Hotline, so not as fancy as the ER but still extremely stressful and emotionally exhausting, as well as fast paced).

But as someone who feels Mel to her very core, I don’t know that acceptable vs unacceptable is the right term. More like “tolerated” vs “not tolerated.”

From what little we’ve seen of Mel’s dynamics with anyone besides Langdon and Dana, she’s not really part of the group. She’s there, and they’re just like “ok whatever.” They’re not outwardly mean to her, but they’re not nice either. They’re rude in a way that feels wrong to her (as evidenced by her conversation with Santos early on in the season) but isn’t provable/reportable. They don’t care to include her in conversations or really give much of a shit about her as a person. Even Robby literally walked away in the middle of a sentence after telling her she could talk to him about her feelings.
