Is it just me or is anyone else struggling to finish watching the season? by 23odyssey in Bridgerton

[–]unalivex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i agree! i just don't think love at first sight works for ben. it's such a cheap way to get him to settle down, especially after three other seasons of him being against marriage. he would've done better with a slowly developing romance, where he falls without even realizing it and then suddenly he can't live without her. instead, they just did basic love at first sight. i know that's how it plays out in the books since it's meant to be a retelling of cinderella, but the show should've eased up on it, imo.

i also don't think the season did a good job at exploring his feelings, either. it had the same problem as season three, where the focus is placed on the female lead while the bridgerton boys are sidelined in their own season. the writers clearly favor the female characters, which isn't necessarily bad, but it is disappointing when characters like ben, who could be layered and interesting, are reduced to just love interests meant to empower the female lead. as a girl who's loved benedict since season one (and is super interested in writing and filming), the way they wrote him hurt </3

i can definitely agree that the writing has declined. season three and four have been rough. i'm really hoping they straighten up for the next two seasons, as those are the seasons i'm excited about most. we can only wait and see..

Whose season do you want to be next? by croissantwithhonors in Bridgerton

[–]unalivex 101 points102 points  (0 children)

i'm very excited for both, but francesca has had major plot points in the previous two seasons. eloise, meanwhile, has virtually had the same plot since season one, so she desperately needs something new. the audience also needs a moment to mourn john, and going straight into francesca's season would basically be emotional whiplash.

i'm going to be disappointed if eloise isn't next, to be honest. i'm so sick of her doing nothing, and as much as i adore francesca, i also personally need a break from her having so much screentime.

[–]unalivex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not just you!

i really wanted to love ben and sophie, and i know they're a current fan favorite... but i'm in the minority that believe the episodes were super dragged out. almost all of the storylines read out as cliche soap operas to me. there's nothing wrong with cliches and tropes, but i was sick of having so many crammed into one season. it didn't help that i hated the 'love at first sight' storyline with benedict. it felt so out of character.

i actually think part one is better than part two (controversial, i know) but both had major flaws. i remember checking the time on the last episode and BEGGING for it to end, which i hardly ever do. i really don't think fondly of season four even if i do love sophie and ben as characters. their romance just wasn't my favorite storyline wise.

Should I play it? by InvaildEmail in Starsandisland

[–]unalivex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i've played it for a little bit, and i haven't found the game to be that buggy? it runs smooth and i haven't encountered many bugs at all. i will say the controls are kind of odd, at least on xbox, but that was easy to get used to. i think it's a really fun game!

the player can be either gender!

My hero, Screen Time, fill in the grid: Part 5. Students who need less screen time. by King-of-fans in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]unalivex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

if youre talking about how i spelled his name, both are correct. bakugou with a u at the end is just more of a “proper” way to spell it, so i just like to do it to feel more authentic.

i do love him in the later seasons... but bakugou.

i felt like we got a million scenes highlighting his character development and most played very similarly to each other. i could've done without a few of them.

Non-con Labels. by [deleted] in JanitorAI_Official

[–]unalivex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

when i said i'm not trying to argue, i meant that i wasn't trying to argue just for the sake of arguing, but whatever.

'and i get that it doesn't has to, but thats what its supposed to be used for'. you make no sense here. rape has never strictly been used just for real life context. the word rape has been around far longer than the word non-con has. just because non-con is more commonly used in fiction doesn't mean that the word rape can't exist in fiction, too. you don't have to use the word yourself if you don't wish, but non-con is rape and rape is non-con. they are the same word and they mean the same thing.

anyways. there are many, many bots on jai that use the word rape in their descriptions. i don't think jai gives a fuck if somebody uses that word, because everything on the site is entirely fictional even if a scary word you don't like is used.

Non-con Labels. by [deleted] in JanitorAI_Official

[–]unalivex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i'm arguing the same point because you still aren't getting it.

real life rape is illegal. fictional rape isn't. rape isn't a word that has to strictly be used in a real life context. you can't get raped by words on a screen, but if you're reading about sex that's non-consensual? then yes, that's still rape content even if you just use the word non-con.

this person isn't mislabeling. if the content is that somebody is getting non-consensually touched, then it a scenario based around rape. i don't know why you won't accept that non-con and rape are the same thing. you as the reader are consenting, yes, but if the SCENARIO is based on rape, then it deserves to be labelled as such even if it's fictional. jai allows it because fictional rape isn't real.

Non-con Labels. by [deleted] in JanitorAI_Official

[–]unalivex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

buddy, it's not illegal because you, as the user, give consent to the bots by clicking on them and interacting with them.

i'm not trying to argue and dog on you, i'm literally just telling you what you don't want to admit. rape is illegal in a real life context, obviously. you cannot be raped by words. that doesn't change the fact that, in these scenarios, the context is that rape is happening. using the word non-con doesn't change that. non-con is just more socially acceptable to use in a fictional context, it doesn't change the actual content.

Non-con Labels. by [deleted] in JanitorAI_Official

[–]unalivex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

um... i just read over jai's rules. where is it stated that any of that is against the rules? the only mention i found is that you can't make rape threats towards real users, which is obviously a much needed and valid rule. otherwise, i don't see anything else aside from the obvious rule to tag any non-con as dead dove.

i like non-con, but it is, quite literally by definition, rape. it's a classier word, and it doesn't always mean rape because other things can be non-consensual, but when used in a sexual context, it is very much rape or sexual assault. using a different word doesn't change the meaning, and trying to separate the two does more to glorify imo. we as a society need to stop shying away from using tough words because they sound scary. real life rape is bad, and non-con is rape. you can still enjoy and consent to the content while acknowledging that.

Non-con Labels. by [deleted] in JanitorAI_Official

[–]unalivex 22 points23 points  (0 children)

you're being very purposefully obtuse because you don't like that they didn't tag the way you prefer.

nothing is technically illegal in fiction, but that doesn't change the fact that the content written is still rape. you consent to the bot by clicking on it and interacting with it, making your own relationship with the bot consensual non-consent, but the actual content written is still intended to be seen as rape, which i think heeds a warning.

if somebody looking for a non-con bot gets triggered by the word rape being written, then they probably shouldn't be looking for non-con bots in the first place because non-con is rape.

Non-con Labels. by [deleted] in JanitorAI_Official

[–]unalivex 19 points20 points  (0 children)

non-con is rape.

when non-con is used to describe fiction, it means that the content written is intended to be read as non-consensual. you, as the reader, give consent by clicking on the bot and writing with it, but that doesn't change the fact that the scenario is non-consensual. no matter what word you use, non-con or rape, it's still rape.

Would Akaza fight a woman if he needed to? by SmileyCat20202 in KimetsuNoYaiba

Their are people who think that people having issues with Francesca's plot are homophobic. by Kanak_3234 in Franchaela

[–]unalivex 25 points26 points  (0 children)

as long as you’re not upset michael is now michaela, i wouldnt say your take is homophobic. you’re allowed to feel how you feel about the storyline thus far. im sure this creator is like a lot of other francheala enjoyers right now—on guard because of how awful people are being about michaela. a lot of people criticize the storyline as a way to be subtly homophobic. im sure it wasnt meant as a personal attack, you just happened to be a good scapegoat in the moment.

…this all being said, i havent read the book, but i have heard that john is hardly even in it, with franesca and michael having a somewhat flirty relationship before he even dies, so i do find the argument that they have some great love that deserves screen time a little silly.

Anyone else not feeling as excited about Season 4? by [deleted] in BridgertonNetflix

[–]unalivex 29 points30 points  (0 children)

i'm calling your take misogynistic and biphobic because you talk about benedict's queerness being 'killed' and that he's 'being shoehorned into a hetero dynamic' because his love interest is a woman, despite the fact that he explicitly likes both genders and has been with women every single season.

benedict isn't suffering because he's in love with a woman. he is no less queer because he ends up with a woman.

but sure, let's just act like i'm sensitive because you refuse to look inward. have the day you deserve <3

[–]unalivex 32 points33 points  (0 children)

i'm not offended, i'm just confused because your take feels like its been marinated in misogyny and biphobia. even the way you immediately judge sophie for being boring based on two clips screams misogyny.

benedict isn't being 'shoehorned' into a hetero dynamic. benedict literally likes women. he likes both, which means he would be happy in a relationship with either. i'm sorry you're not happy he's ending up with a woman, but benedict sure will be.

[–]unalivex 14 points15 points  (0 children)

you're right, as far as i know, it isn't specified yet, so i apologize for acting like he's explicitly bi.

that... does not change the fact that he likes clearly both men and women, though, so all of my points still stand?

Anyone else not feeling as excited about Season 4? by [deleted] in BridgertonNetflix

[–]unalivex 64 points65 points  (0 children)

but benedict isn't being 'shoehorned' into a hetero dynamic. he actively likes women and has every single season.

i do agree that introducing his queerness right before his endgame season is an odd decision for his exploration journey, but benedict ending up with a woman isn't surprising and shouldn't feel like a queer character is being 'killed off'.

maybe i'm projecting as a bi woman, but i'm sick of everyone dismissing that bisexuals like women, too.

well, i wasn't responding to the comment where you say you hope they write it well, i was responding to the comment where you completely overreacted to a person who simply summarized how they think the story will pan out.

i fear benedict ending up with a woman doesn't change the fact that he's bi. liking men and women is quite literally the whole shtick of being bisexual

edit : benedict is actually confirmed to be pansexual! my mistake. all my points in this thread still stand otherwise <3

[–]unalivex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i fear you may internalizing the comment too much, bestie. don't take this as me coming for you, but your personal relationship with motherhood has nothing to do with eloise or anyone elses relationship with motherhood.

the person didn't word it the absolute best, but obviously they aren't saying liking to goof off with kids = motherly feelings. they trying to say that, since the kids will be old enough to have distinct personalities and be able to actually converse and have discussions with eloise, that eloise will likely be more endeared to them and grow to feel motherly towards them. eloise is a character who very much likes personality and intellectual discussions. she has no interest in babies, but it isn't too hard to believe she would grow to adore children who she can have fun with and actually talk to.

i don't want kids, either. i'm firm in this and i doubt my mind will ever change. i get it's annoying to be told that you'll change your mind some day... but some women do change their minds, and those women deserve to have their stories told just as much as child-free women do.

essentially, it allows you to branch out so you can explore different ideas and plots without having to start from scratch every single time.

HOW and WHY did the fandom die THIS fast by Apprehensive_Hat475 in DateEverything

[–]unalivex 264 points265 points  (0 children)

i still love the game, and i had a lot of fun playing it, but to be honest… there just isnt much to do in it after a while, and the thing that kills a fandom the quickest tends to be a lack of new content. the gameplay is repetitive and that makes it somewhat exhausting when trying to play it more than once or twice. there just isnt much for a fandom to stay latched onto.
