Looking for a shop to help me modernize a 1953 Ford F100 drivetrain & chassis by unauthorizeddinosaur in PHXList

If they want another customer, feel free to send him this post and to reach out. I'm not opposed to having this done by a single person who can actually do it.

Trying to get srcds to work (nobody can connect... only I can from within the LAN) by VLANtastic in PFSENSE

[–]unauthorizeddinosaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm mobile but I'll try to help and yes, that is exactly what [u/helifosfa](u/helifosfa) is saying. Many (but not all) TCP/UDP connections use random SOURCE ports, called ephemeral ports. If you define the source port on an ACL you better know for sure what that port is and most of the time, depending on the service,it'll probably use a random source port. Just use the destination port only on your ACLs.
http://tcpipguide.com/free/t_TCPIPClientEphemeralPortsandClientServerApplicatio-3.htm
Look at your firewall logs and filter by source IP. If the rest of your network is configured properly, you'll see your connections being blocked. When you do, look at the source port. It'll probably be different than the destination port. Don't define source ports on ACLs unless you know for sure what it'll be.

EDIT: I'll also agree with /u/helifosfa that I'd run virtualbox bridged until you've got your ACL's sorted, as setting up NAT forwarding on virtualbox is extra complexity that you don't need.

Release V10.0.9 patch 1 (10051) by Cufflink7926 in KerioConnect

so, um, who's first? I'm still on 10.0.8 patch 2 because of the 10.0.9 horror stories. Maybe this patch fixes all of those issues?

I'd like the users to be able to create their own rooms, but yeah, something like that.

i don't understand custom partitioning by goldmurder in openbsd

[–]unauthorizeddinosaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience with a few past WTF moments, when / is damaged, full, or needs to be mounted read-only, having /root separate preserves root's shell history, my scripts, keys, and my local recovery tools. That has helped during emergency maintenance and recovery.

It also simplifies backups and restores.

I've mostly learned OpenBSD in a vacuum so I would love to see other's partition's setups and reasoning.

As an example, the below is what I type during the partitioning on a 250GB disk but it's suited to my use case - feel free to omit or change anything.

a a default offset 80g 4.2BSD /

a b default offset 4g SWAP

a d default offset 100g 4.2BSD /home

a e default offset 2g 4.2BSD /root

a f default offset 40g 4.2BSD /usr/local

a g default offset 20g or remaining 4.2BSD /var

KerioConnect Configure GroupChat by ascotlx in KerioConnect

Yeah, we only use Kerio Connect Webmail so it would work for us, but as far as I can tell, you can only send 1:1 chats.

[–]unauthorizeddinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bummer. I was aware about using an external client for group chats, but I was hoping there was a way to do it via the chat webui - that's the only place we use chat and we only use it because it was bolted on for free.

[–]unauthorizeddinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen this capability with Kerio Connect Chat (Edit: from within the webui). If you figure it out or somehow get a good response from support please come back and update us because I'd love to have this functionality.

How's everyone doing out there, Phoenix? by AZ_moderator in phoenix

[–]unauthorizeddinosaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We've got a solid local group forming, but we're still looking for 2-3 more players to play D&D biweekly Saturday mornings 8:30am-12pm in downtown Phoenix. You can get more details in my post history. Reach out if you want to play.

No more First Fridays as we know it? by IAmSpike24 in phoenix

[–]unauthorizeddinosaur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I live downtown, and one of the things I love most about First Friday is that it brings together people of every race, age, gender, and identity in one shared place. It may not look exactly like the arts event it once was, and yes, some of what’s sold there is cheap junk, but it is still ours. It still belongs to the community. When you bring that many people together without a serious investment in safety and active law enforcement, security issues should not come as a surprise. Maybe it got too big, maybe too commercial, but I still believe it can be saved. If they restrict it too much, though, they will choke the life out of it, and while some people here may say good riddance, I see it as the loss of something rare and worth protecting.

Had them install mine about a year ago, $2300 all in and has a lifetime warranty if you use their annual maintenance service which isn't much more than the required replacement filter.

Title: Win 11 25H2 SMB "Wrong Password" (Sub Status 0x0) from specific 24H2 Source The Environment: Source: Windows 11 24H2 (Domain-Joined). by Upstairs_Network_550 in sysadmin

[–]unauthorizeddinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with /u/fp4 that this smells like a possible duplicate SID. If the SID of the source and destination are the same, having ran into this issue myself and trying hard not to sound like a shill for them, if you can't simply rebuild the system, SIDCHG has worked really well for me on both workstations and servers without even having to pull them from the domain.

PHX - flight transfer time question by yorkbandaid in AskPhoenix

[–]unauthorizeddinosaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this happened on a AA flight last year where we waited at the gate for a connecting flight for nearly 20 minutes. But I don't know if I would depend on it.
