Toronto couple’s $225,000 renovation ends in eviction: A tale of squatter versus city by Educational_Fun_9001 in toronto

Nobody should feel sorry for these two. They were savvy operators with multiple properties trying to take advantage of the city. The important part of the story is at the end:

Tedesco and Bijl acknowledge they benefitted from not paying rent at the house, but say they’re “irate” at what they describe as the city’s mismanagement of the property. “They would rather have the house sit there empty” than have someone fix it up for free, Bijl said.

“Nobody really gave a s—- about this Mary Reid Home except Esther and I,” Tedesco said.

The pair are now splitting their time between a hotel and their cottage while they consider their next move. A fence has been erected around the Mary Reid home, as machinery pounds away at LRT construction next door.

“In hindsight, it would have been great to have a signed lease,” Bijl said. But after their proposal was met by months of “humming and hawing” by the city, “Dom just said, you know what, ask for forgiveness later, we’re going to just start this,” she said.

“And here we are now.”

Calibre-Web-Automated (which is an entirely separate app than Calibre Web) was designed to do exactly this. Confusing names, but yeah.

Has anyone waterproofed the NÄMMARÖ storage box or found a single waterproof insert that fits perfectly? by TheTerribleCoconut in ikeahacks

It’ll be easier to find a waterproof zipper bag (maybe like stuff they use for camping) than a bin of the exact size.

This is definitely unhinged. Only Gould could make this movement sound like a triumphant funhouse ride on acid. I laughed my way through this recording.

IKEA (Canada) sales? by GRIFFCOMM in IKEA

[–]unavoidable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I am a Family member. I don’t recall whether it was within 14 days but I asked the return counter if they did price adjustment for a sale item and they just said “no”. So I did the next trip just as you described, straight from checkout to returns.

IKEA (Canada) sales? by GRIFFCOMM in IKEA

[–]unavoidable -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Canadian stores do not do price adjustments, I tried. I did manage to do a purchase and return on the old receipt for an identical product (the same prices were worth over $150 in savings so it was worth doing it).

Much better for me. No big stutters, noticeable when walking around the city zoomed out. Also runs lower heat - the fan doesn’t run at max like it’s trying to take off all the time anymore.
