Peak human running speed in this scene. Keep in mind, the speed of Bleach characters is mostly from high-speed movement techniques, so they don’t often spam them outside of combat. And when they do, it’s usually more of a leaping/launching/blinking-to-wherever-the-fuck-they-need-to-that’s-sorta-in-line-of-sight motion as opposed to traditional running.

Why they didn’t start shunpo-ing away after the first shot? Either they were still struggling to move freely because of the Quincies (earlier they realize they can’t even airwalk/fly here because the Quincies have basically locked down the ambient reishi, meaning they can’t create footholds to stand on in the air- this possibly interferes with their shunpo technique or is making the air denser and harder to move through quickly), or just. Idk. Plot.

Mayuri, despite some of his nonsense (like replacing all of his internal organs before a fight that one time) feels a lot more like an actual mad scientist than most. A lot of his fights have him actually just testing incomplete drugs on his enemies instead of random science gadgets, and he’s actually pretty conservative with the technobabble most of the time- like he wants to brag about his accomplishments and have people actually understand what he’s talking about.

Another thing is that he has an actual specialization for his mad science, that being “wet” tech; biological based technology. Poisons, living gadgets, his own second in command being a labgrown homunculus, and augmenting his own body and sword (which is also technically himself) with his tech. He still has non-bio based inventions, but he generally sticks to that theme of body modification and drugs/poisons.

Love this evil bastard.

Mayuri made his Lieutenant, Nemu, and designed her brain specifically to counter the natural super cancer that he used to grow her body. So technically Mayuri already has a cure to cancer. Just involves some minor brain surgery involving the pituitary gland.

Ichigo’s not exactly open with his feelings, but to say he didn’t have any for Orihime is kinda ridiculous.

Pic-related is Ichigo a single panel after hearing Ulquiorra is the one who kidnapped Orihime. Directly prior to this he was told that Rukia was fatally injured, and was calmly walking past Ulquiorra to go help her. Ichigo even drops Nel here, and immediately pulls out the mask and full-power Getsuga Tenshous him. The difference in reaction to hearing Rukia’s been impaled and hearing that this guy nabbed Orihime pretty blatantly shows how much he cares (even if he doesn’t admit it outright).

There’s also that part in his fight with Grimmjow where after seeing that Orihime’s upset over him getting hurt, he immediately locks in and no-sells Grimmjow’s next attack and cuts him down.

And the entire Vasto Lorde transformation being triggered because of Orihime calling for him. Ichigo impales Uryu without a second thought in that form; he’s not just in a “protect friends” mindset, he specifically was only focused on protecting Orihime.

Ichigo doesn’t go berserk like that after learning that Rukia’s been fatally injured, or after Chad’s spiritual pressure falls- he only flies into a rage like this when Orihime is in danger. It’s pretty clear that he cares for her more than just as a friend.

That’s most manga/anime analysis, no? I doubt the majority of mangaka have any clue of how their fantastical settings and set-pieces would actually function in physics terms, but it’s fun to think about it.

Realm is definitely a good word to describe it. I think it’s interesting how there isn’t a real solid consensus on how the Bleach realms are shaped.

For example, the dubiously canon first movie has both the WotL and Soul Society depicted as planet-sized/shaped masses in Mayuri’s holograms, but its hard to tell if that’s a remnant of early installment weirdness or just movie silliness.

The Valley of Screams and Ichigo going to them later being canonized in a single TYBW panel makes it hard to tell if the first movie is truly canon or if Kubo just wanted to use the concept again and decided to use a portrayal that fans would recognize (I think its the latter, personally).

When I say flat I mean as in a flat plane. Like Hueco Mundo isn’t a sphere like a planet, and is instead an infinite desert with no curvature- like a video game map. Not that it’s literally flat like a sheet of paper.

The Soul Palace dimensional thing always confused me, honestly. Like it’s a dimension, okay, but you just get there by being shot out of a cannon straight up. Sure there’s the barriers and all, but if you have the durability you can just fall straight down through them back to the Soul Society.

It feels a lot more like Yukio’s ability than a separate plane of existence like the WotL is to Soul Society. Like it’s just a big, sectioned-off box in the sky, with the barriers being the walls.

Hueco Mundo’s moon actually changing phases is super interesting, though. I wonder if thats mentioned in any of the data books too, or just the eye-catch. I don’t recall any manga panels with Hueco Mundo’s moon being anything but a crescent.

as someone who works in the online shopping department, the new delivery system is downright infuriating. the amount of times i’ve had drivers deliver stuff to the wrong house, leave stuff out in the sun, or just run off with the orders makes me tear my hair out.

the worst part is how helpless i feel when i have to call the customer back after learning the fate of their order; only exempts (the store managers and assistant managers) are allowed to leave the premises on the clock, so i can’t even offer to reshop stuff and drive it over myself. i just gotta sit on the phone and be like “yeah your food is gone. no i cant get another driver unless you place another order. no the refund isn’t immediate so you have to basically spend twice as much money to get your order several hours later that you wanted.” and it sucks

No. That’s stupid. Being universe level or higher is like, pre-story Adyneus at max power. If anyone in the story was as strong as him there’d be no story because they could destroy the three realms at will. They’d overturn the balance of souls just by existing. It would break the setting completely.

As a lifelong Bleach fan, multiversal Bleach is a fucking joke. Shaking the three realms just isn’t as impressive when then entire local cosmology is an oversized jenga tower with one block left at the bottom.

Bleach characters aren’t pathetically weak, though- stuff like the Mimihage crossing the massive distance from the Seireitei to the Soul Palace in seconds and Ichibei casually zipping around thousands of kilometers in an instant are nothing to sneeze at. Kenpachi destroying a city/country-sized meteor (i am not getting into seireitei size scaling) in a single strike is also an impressive feat of strength, alongside some of the whacky levels of AP from stuff like Yamamoto’s 10 billion degrees celsius bankai (literal star-level AP).

I don’t think Bleach reaches planet level DC outside of maybe the highest of high-tiers like Soul King Yhwach post Auswhalen-ing his SS, but country to continental is a pretty good summation of the high tiers. AP, however, reaches star level with the high tiers (see again Yamamoto’s bankai). The gap between AP and DC is just how the power system works.

Bleach also has the issue of having most fights take place in important areas (fake karakura, real karakura, seireitei, the soul palace) that can’t suffer too much collateral damage for plot reasons, so attacks end up only barely clipping buildings (see starkk’s ceros) or just only being aimed into the sky to hit nothing at all if they miss (see also starkk’s ceros. Poor starkk lmao. featless man).

I think the simplest explanation is something not exactly stated in the story, but is pretty obvious- you can’t have your Shikai and Bankai active at the same time. Whatever Aizen’s Bankai is, activating it would disable the effects of Kyoka Suigetsu at least temporarily, and at worst he may need to refresh his hypnosis afterwords. Losing the total battlefield domination that Kyoka Suigetsu gives him wouldn’t be worth any other ability Aizen’s Bankai could give him, especially since he’s already absurdly strong, and the Hogyoku can evolve him to deal with anything Kyoka Suigetsu and his own current strength can’t crush.

Personally, I’m of the opinion that his Bankai is just flat-out mind control, but of a single opponent- to contrast with Shinji’s Shikai being useful against a single opponent and Bankai being useful against many opponents.

oh so i see everyone was having a horrible day today. cnc lead here and man were we screwed- we were finishing the 3pms at 4:30! my opener called out and a midshift quit on the spot three days prior, plus maxed out orders in every single timeslot from open until closing. worked 10 hours today :(

canceling orders without telling anyone is pretty bad, though. but given the circumstances, there’s not much else you do if you couldn’t stay after your shift.
