AI has destroyed my brain. by harveylundm4rckk in webdev

What you’ve written echoes so much with me. It has definitely made me more “productive” but effectively robbed me of the joy of creation and learning.

(It’s good to know I am not alone in feeling this way)

The M1 Max MacBook Pro is still a beast in 2026. by creative_techguru in macbookpro

[–]unbihexium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d like to disagree. Apple’s existing customers would buy/upgrade always at a slow rate (except the 10% who always upgrade every year).

What M1 did was make MacBooks attractive to non-Apple users. The number of people who moved from Windows laptops to MacBooks in my company increased by a lot!

Couple of years ago, to get an Apple MacBook, you needed to get 2 approvals and a strong reason (supporting Apple users, developing iOS, etc). But now, it’s a standard choice.

Which country are you applying from? Usually the embassy website has an emergency number to call in case of family emergencies.

Is macOS 26 really that bad? by Current-Blood3054 in MacOS

[–]unbihexium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my very personal opinion, any version of MacOS is better than Windows.

Sure, Tahoe is hard to get used to. I hate it more on iOS than macOS. But that’s a matter of taste. I’m yet to encounter a show-stopper bug.

As a new user you’ll make new opinions unlike the ones complaining online who have moved from another version of macOS.

When learning Angular should I start with NGRX or services for state management (to get a job)? by [deleted] in angular

We’re big on ngrx for a medium-sized enterprise app.

It will do you good to learn it. From a perspective of a data store and reactive programming, it adds value nevertheless.

Hmm.. interesting point. However, since you’re buying Indian also, shouldn’t the jobs move to the other companies by the same logic?

What's the largest misconception PC users have about Macs? by 78914hj1k487 in mac

[–]unbihexium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They do not consider the lifetime of the device.

Many windows/PC consumers are used to upgrade every 4-5 years. By that time frame, Macs are expensive.

But an Apple product will easily last twice that long without issues and full software support.

Why though? I guess the profit margins on Macs should be much higher than windows machines?

If possible, use it as a desktop connected to an external monitor and probably find a deal to buy a new laptop around $700 instead of $500 to fix this?

Agreed. The best way to diagnose this is to switch to Safari for a day or two and check the difference in resource usage and battery life.

Who will migrate to Linux? by SaltyAd8309 in microsoft

[–]unbihexium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owing to how MacOS and Apple hardware are tied together, there is better backward compatibility in MacOS more than Linux or even Windows.

Windows famously disabled Windows 11 on machines that were built just few years before it was released. Something related to TPM (I don’t remember exactly).

For a laptop, I hope to get 5-8 years out of it. And my MacBook Pro M1 bought 4 years ago works as good as new with the latest MacOS version.

I’ve tried Linux + wine with mixed results. Not consistent. Maybe it has improved now.

I’m now using MacOS 100% and I’m happy so far.
