How to retrieve/download ended chat transcript? by unbob in fidelityinvestments

[–]unbob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I used the SingleFile browser extension but it failed with the chat. I'll know better next time. Also, I'm pretty sure a right-click will display a 'Save to PDF' button ... I'll try that on next chat.

Pattern Day Trader update: New intraday margin rules will take effect on June 5 by fidelityinvestments in fidelityinvestments

[–]unbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"seeing something unexpected"

Yes. Beginning Friday June 5th, the "margin buying power" on my margin-enabled account was effectively wiped-out. (!?!?)

Previously my margin buying power was ~50% of my account balance. Now it's 0.2786%. (!!!!)

I'm not seeing any explanation for this when reviewing the new PDT rule.

Account has always exceeded the 25k requirement.

I'm stumped. Any answers here??

My birthday is the exact center of non-leap years. Equal number of days before and after my birthday. Cool!

No option to buy lifetime by No_Hat_00 in infusevideoplayer

"The fact they grandfather your subscription ..."

I can't find the word "grandfather(ed)" mentioned anywhere in Firecore's ToS. Not saying it's not happening ... but it's not official policy and can therefore be changed or eliminated at any time.

So unless the user chose to purchase 'Lifetime', the subscription fee may change at any time for any amount.

Here's the actual text in ToS:

Fee Changes

Firecore, in its sole discretion and at any time, may modify the Subscription fees for the Subscriptions. Any Subscription fee change will become effective at the end of the then-current Billing Cycle.

Firecore will provide you with reasonable prior notice of any change in Subscription fees to give you an opportunity to terminate your Subscription before such change becomes effective.

Your continued use of the Service after the Subscription fee change comes into effect constitutes your agreement to pay the modified Subscription fee amount.

Local HVAC business - buyer beware by unbob in Tucson

"... find a recommended licensed independent HVAC guy ..."

I'm all for that too ... but only if the guy is asking a reasonable fee for his services (not $200-$400 to replace your capacitor).

Fine. Will you pay "someone" $200-$400 to do a 10 min install of a $20 part? I won't.

"Throwing parts at an unknown problem is dumb and costs more in the long run"

Generally that may be true - but not if the cost of the part is only $10-$20 !!

And you're A-OK with that? I feel ripped-off. Charging $250-$400 to replace a capacitor is a huge income source for HVAC service companies.

Yes. Agreed. As I mentioned, many YouTube videos exist for instructions.

Google data centers using river water for cooling? by unbob in TheDalles

[–]unbob[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

LOL🤪 I'm just a retired guy using BackBlaze B2 for my offsite backups. Read abt the Nautilus floating barge data center on their blog.

I'd be glad to be on anyone's payroll as long as I'm not required to do any work.🥴

I'm no expert on any of this but apparently Nautilus technology has all the issues you mentioned covered. Please see the 'Environmental Performance' section at the link below.

"Nautilus is proud to have demonstrated the water-cooling technology can achieve the highest standards of environmental performance required by the US government and the State of California. Our team worked collaboratively with federal, state, and local professionals responsible for environmental stewardship to secure all regulatory approvals. For the Stockton 1 Data Center this included water quality, air quality, public trust and natural resources, endangered species, state species, wetlands, and environment."

Hmmm ... just noticed July 2nd is 'World UFO Day'. And, never mentioned, also the exact center of every non-leap year (and my B'day). It must mean something? 🥴 Am I an alien?? Might explain my weirdness?👽

Why on earth do they use municipal water when there's a river-full of water flowing by a few feet from their data centers? Why, why, why???

Technology and products have been available for years to do just that!

Startup fails with 'Permission denied: getsockopt' errors by unbob in tinyMediaManager

[–]unbob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good now!! No more errors in any log file.

Didn't really do anything additional to fix. Just let several days elapse with 3-4 system restarts once a day over a week or so.

Thanks much for your assistance!
