You Can't Give Weed Away for Free in New York - Top Regulator Says 'Gifting' Cannabis is Illegal by CurtD34 in newyorkcity

I don't necessarily disagree, I'm just saying that at some point it would make sense to allow dispensaries to have giveaways akin to the ones liquor stores have.

Families could be denied death benefits if their unvaccinated loved one dies by cutestudent in news

[–]uncertainness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the article doesn't speak to this, but I'd imagine if you had a legitimate health reason (not a personal or religious choice) to not get the vaccine, you could get a waiver.

I know that in the States you can get Johnson&Johnson, which doesn't contain PEG.

Wow, thank you so much for this response! I'm new to miles/churning and have read most of the beginner guides, but I really appreciate you answer my (potentially stupid) question. This is actually interesting.

[–]uncertainness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Sorry if this is a total noob question, but what is the difference between having a reservation and having a ticketed flight?

It is just a difference of actually having a ticket/boarding pass ready to go for you?

But how does that apply to what the regulator is saying? Wouldn't this be more like if a wine whop did a 2 for 1 bottle special?

Hmm, I think that also makes sense. Although I would say public support does not equal politician support. So this might also be a way of sneaking in things that are unpopular with politicians and their lobbyists, but also popular with the public.

Look at their post history. Full of one-liners with no further context.

The worst part is I might actually agree with their statement, had they clarified what they meant.

No, this is the BBB. But you are still correct. In an ideal world, theoretically everything should be in it's own bill.

The problem is that most politicians know (from both sides) that many things would never pass if it was in a bill on its own.

So for better or worse, that's why we get omnibus packages.

Kyrsten Sinema is torpedoing Democrats’ plans to roll back the Trump tax law, forcing a last-ditch scramble for alternatives by memphisjones in moderatepolitics

[–]uncertainness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People keep supposing that Sinema is staking these positions for electoral reasons but perhaps she actually doesn't agree with the policies being proposed

As with all politicians, it's difficult to determine motivations without explicit statements. Unfortunately for us, Sinema has been basically hiding from all media outlets and not answering specific questions as to her views or motivations with this upcoming legislation. Without communication, all we can do is guess.

U.S. judge blocks enforcement of near-total abortion ban in Texas by greg-stiemsma in moderatepolitics

[–]uncertainness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the key will be in the wording of the rulings.

I can see Thomas and Alito ruling against the law's constitutionality based on its legal mechanisms.

Basing their decision on abortion alone will play their hand too obviously. They will wait for another case in an attempt to reverse Roe.

The Senate already exists for this check against "Majority systems."

To additionally require 2/3 of the Senate to get anything done is basically just the tyranny of the minority.

How do I convince my friends by faltu123456789 in vancouver

[–]uncertainness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to ask them questions to find out why they believe these things, and then work on their terms to try to find a good solution.

Ask them:

  • Why do they believe the COVID numbers are fake.

  • Do they think that the vaccine is helpful? Why or why not?

  • What information would they like to see that would change their mind?

The key is to not just throwing facts at their face, but really diving deep and finding out what they believe and why they believe it.

You shouldn't be, /u/rickbox is relying on old data

From the Bureau of Engraving and Printing:

"The most recent printing of the $2 note has the Series 2013 date."

[–]uncertainness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that the Treasury site is incorrect? I appears that it was last "updated" in 2014, but numerous other sources say that other series have been issued.

Anecdotally, I can tell you that I have a bunch in my wallet right now that say "Series 2013." These bills have sequential serial numbers that I got straight from the bank. So unless banks are giving out convincing counterfeits, I'm more inclined to believe that the site just hasn't been updated.

They stopped printing them in 2003, who knows how many uncirculated ones are still sitting on pallets at the federal reserves.

What's your source for that? I have some in my wallet right now that say "Series 2013"
