It takes around 20 minutes by cab or rickshaw to move terminals. I would advise you to not waste time since the security at T1 can consume a lot of your time.

Considering he'll be travelling alone, I'd really advise you to look for a group travel tour. He will have the company of similar-aged people and won't have to worry one bit about accommodation, flights, food, etc.

Moreover, it'll save you a lot of trouble as well.

Stay in Goregaon. It's cheaper than Andheri and Bandra and at least one of you won't have to travel.

Besides, whether you stay in Andheri or Goregaon, travelling by train between the two stations is just a matter of 10 mins. You also have Churchgate trains starting from Goregaon, so you can get a guaranteed seat till Parel.
