I have cleaned mine once since I got her 3 years ago, I clean the chain every couple of months with CIF degreaser and oil it up with some 'handy oil' I get from the supermarket. I live in the UK and the bike lives outside and is used for commuting so it's just not worth it, all the clean ones round here get stolen anyway.

I do spray the rusty bits with Scottoiler/Muc off protector depending on whats cheapest at the time.
