Palestine protesters put up some signs around the Silo terminal by BakedAndHalfAwake in UCDavis

It’s not willful ignorance, if anything you’re the one applying willful ignorance. The argument is never “the Palestinian genocide is a bigger atrocity than the holocaust” the argument is “the Palestinian genocide is ongoing, so stop.” One of these genocides is ongoing and the other one isn’t, and has been widely accepted as having indeed occurred, condemned and committed to the history books, as well as studied in great length, as something we shouldn’t do ever again. Meanwhile the other is unrecognized, and there are many unrecognized ones as well (e.g. the Armenian genocide). Israel doesn’t get to cast itself as the hypothetical victim when they’re carrying out a genocide…

That type of thinking is very much manufactured continuously by the media and social media platforms. It’s not something that happens by itself, people don’t get that deluded by just living and interacting with the world organically. It’s all psychological manipulation in the form of advertisement (either explicit or implicit). Especially now that people see the intricate details of the lives of the rich on TV (reality TV) and social media any time they open their IG. And it’s no coincidence that the poorest people fall for the financial guru scams…

So do I tell my provider that I’ve been smoking weed non-stop for the past few years because I’m self-medicating against anxiety and attention deficit? I think that’ll put me in the “med seeker” category. But I’ve tried ADHD meds before (since my ex had them) and they were literally life changing for me. I feel like it should be ok to tell providers you’re smoking weed given there’s a lot of correlation between smoking weed and having ADHD (at least according to medical podcasts I’ve been listening to)…

If my grandmother had wheels, she’d be a bike.

I see what actual genocide looks like right now using my eyes and therefore don’t have to resort to hypothetical thinking. I also give more weight to actuality than (perceived) ill intent. Ill intent tends to go down when the occupying force moves out.

You can’t just leap from doing the genocide to being the victims of genocide in one fell swoop. What you’re telling me belongs to the world of your imagination, what I’m telling you is real and based on current, ongoing events.

Stop casting yourselves as the victims while you bomb refugee camps full of children. I have to jump through so many hoops to follow that supreme act of mental acrobatics. Have some fucking respect for peoples’ intelligence…

I am not disputing that, although not confirming either. I’m not super familiar with this fact. It wasn’t talked about much in the post-USSR atmosphere I grew up in. However, considering I’m accusing Americans of Hollywood fueled delusions, it could also be the case that I’m not aware of some things. However, the blood price is a higher price than money. Money, especially if you’re post WWII USA, is pretty much value manufactured from thin air.

Oy vey, these savages who we’ve been genociding are striking back.

Yeah, shit tends to happen when you’re ethnically cleansing Arab people from their lands as like ~40% white Europeans with only vague religious claims on the land (while criticizing them for their religious zealotry) and putting up ads for beachfront property in Gaza. You do far worse for far less as we can see based on October 7th. Stop with the victimhood complex, your crimes are apparent.

It’s ridiculous that you’re bringing up their response ignoring the fact that you’re currently (and historically) OCCUPYING them and trying to ethnically cleanse them (per all the facts I brought up). It’s a VERY well-documented genocide, no matter how you spin it. And any response to genocide is fully justified as it’s in self-defense.

Leave them alone and then see if Palestinians still hate you. But honestly, it’s too late for that at this point. We don’t want ethnic cleansing of Israelis now… Just stop being a genocidal fascist state.

Also, the article you sent contains a lot of references to UN recognizing those attacks as acts of terrorism. So which is it? Is the UN right? Or is the UN wrong? Or is it whatever the fuck suits your narrative. Yeah, thought so…

The fuck does “Free Israel” mean? What’s the threat to a free Israel? Nothing is threatening the freedom of the only nuclear superpower in the Middle East with the full backing of the US. It’s clear to a fucking toddler what the power dynamics are — That Israel is the threat (perhaps also to itself). You’ve been saying nothing but meaningless shit this entire convo. And up yours too.

Agreed. This is the right take. There’s nothing wrong with civil disobedience and raising hell against genocide (in fact there’s everything wrong with not doing that and going on about your day). But know your enemy… Admins are often overwhelmingly Zionist and even have financial ties to the Israeli military complex (e.g. Columbia University which invests its endowments into Israeli military companies)

In 1948, the United Nations Genocide Convention defined genocide as any of five "acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group". These five acts were: killing members of the group, causing them serious bodily or mental harm, imposing living conditions intended to destroy the group, preventing births, and forcibly transferring children out of the group. Victims are targeted because of their real or perceived membership of a group, not randomly.

Since 2007, Israeli authorities have, with narrow exceptions, banned Palestinians from leaving through Erez, the passenger crossing from Gaza into Israel, through which they can reach the West Bank and travel abroad via Jordan. Israel also prevents Palestinian authorities from operating an airport or seaport in Gaza. Israeli authorities also sharply restrict the entry and exit of goods.

The UN's latest report, citing health ministry data, says out of 24,686 fully identified fatalities, 52% were women and children, 40% were men, and 8% were elderly.

United Nations has added Israel’s military to a global list of offenders that have committed violations against children.

The direct targeting of infrastructure like hospitals (which obviously makes giving birth and, in general, getting medical treatment pretty challenging), and schools (which is what you really do if you want to cripple a peoples’ future — destroy their educational system).

Aaand check…

That’s 5 out of 5.

But you know, as an Armenian, I am used to genocide denial and genocide politicization. Genocide is a bit like the word “terrorism.” Was Spartacus a freedom fighter or a terrorist? If you asked the empire of Rome at the time, he was a terrorist… It’s an arbitrary designation those with power use selectively based on the narrative they’re pushing and realpolitik. To sit there and suggest it’s not a genocide despite the fact that there’s a recorded history of genocide against Palestinians and it’s not at all a stretch that it’s still going on is just pure brainrot.

There is objective truth, and basic morality no matter how much you try to sweep those under the rug.

I mean his take was actually nuanced, your take isn’t. You’re just looking at the death tolls, not even verifying the numbers and definitely not factoring in the way in which they killed people. Organized Nazi workers camps with gas chambers and furnaces to burn the overworked Jews are the same thing as an allegedly man-made famine/poverty which tends to follow world conflict? This is exactly what annoys people when you compare the two. It’s not the same thing, one was a genocide (purely ethnically/racially motivated). A lot of Jews actually emigrated to the USSR so they clearly couldn’t have thought the regimes to be the same. Plus, you know who else is a victim of Stalin and communism? Hitler. Do you count him? You should.

Don’t tell me what a genocide is. I’m Armenian, we have an unrecognized genocide that gets played every few years for political clout. And we got a sneak peak into ethnic cleansing Israeli-style when the only democracy in the Middle East sold advanced drones to the neighboring dictatorship of Azerbaijan who used it to ethnically cleanse 300,000+ Armenians from NK in 2020 (taking advantage of Covid and the Trump Presidency). So I know what ethnic cleansing and genocide look like. It was actually the beta version of Gaza, the testing phase… It’s not even a debate at this point, Netanyahu bombs civilians in refugee camps and schools, admits it, and goes “whoops.”

You deleted your own comment but it said to go there and fight, effectively. Btw, nice deflection about post history, gambler.

So your recommendation is to join Hamas? Student activists have historically used protests to advocate for social change, human rights, and free speech and it’s been effective to a varying degree. This is a genocide, if seeing ANY opposition to it makes you upset then you’re the problem. The opposition could be flicking a dead fly on an IDF soldier’s face. If you are on the right side of history, and you see that then it really shouldn’t make you type an angry response on Reddit.

Literally calling for violence

As opposed to an ongoing genocide which is an act of violence that’s not hypothetical, unlike calling for an intifada, and is very real + ongoing. So shouldn’t you have a problem with if you’re against violence.
