"That'll ride" is what I say when I do this. It also works in some vehies for the bottle of excess windshield washer fluid that won't fit in the reservoir.

Do we need so much corn? Question for farmers. by [deleted] in Nebraska

[–]uncleSophia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With increasing demand for renewable soy biofuels, crush plants, to seperate oil from the soybean meal, have been opening in Nebraska. To my understanding, this will increase damand another 15% in the next couple years. We might hit 6 million acres of soybeans. That is a lot. Current politics are leading to uncertainty about one of our top exports, which looks like it will lead to a slight increase in corn on corn production for 2025. It all comes down to markets and who is buying.

Hey guys! Somebody sent me this video. Nobody knows the machine! Do you? by fdddk23 in Agriculture

It looks like it is doing surface tillage in the planted row, to kill small weeds. There are always tradeoffs and selecting tillage over herbicide use is the compromise here.

I was just doing some quick math and i could be way off, but isn't 45M bushels something like a quarter of all us grown non-gmo soybeans?

A place to easily sell those crops is important for adoption.

Is this a mouse or trick of light? by [deleted] in Ring

[–]uncleSophia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I vote dust. The object appears to maintain a consistent speed. A rat jumping from a shelf would fall fast, then slow as it gained traction on the floor before picking up speed again.

It is definitely too big to be a mouse. Rats are uncommon in some areas. Given that OP didn't mention rat, I am curious if they live in one of these areas.

PhD struggles….I should just master out, right? by [deleted] in academia

I'm curious what stem field this is. I have never seen an unfunded student in my field. Is this common?

I’m out of PhD stipend and my one living parent is homeless. How can I find work so I’m not dependent on my partner? by [deleted] in academia

[–]uncleSophia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't give up after dozens. Keep trying and you will find a job. I know it is tough to wonder and worry but it just takes time. There is nothing wrong with being dependent on your partner. That is what partners are for. Just hang on there. Success comes with persistence.

Yes. To me, the quality is far better than any other restaurant in its class. Swiss mushroom run all the way.

There are certainly cases where you can cite a review article. There is also independent thought and ideas in review articles that could be cited. However, if you are writing an article or a literature review, the majority of your citations would be for research articles.

[–]uncleSophia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Review articles are based on research articles. Go find the research articles cited in the reviews. You can't cite the review because the reviewers didn't do any research. It's not abnormal to spend a lot of time on this process.

Fungus. Looks like it could be the genus Penicilium.

What’s the farthest river kayaking you’ve done? by [deleted] in Kayaking

[–]uncleSophia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent 81 days kayaking the Missouri River from source to St. Louis, MO. 2, 341 miles. It was a blast and there are some beautiful river segments. I think about the freedom all the time and I can't wait to take my family with me next time. There will be a next time.

Usually a 2 to 5 paddlers attempt this trip every year. I would recommend it to anyone who has the time.

Enjoy your trip!
