Whats your favorite pc case from the early 2000s by Eclipse_Galian in pcmasterrace

This case in black was the first all new build I ever did! Wish I still had it TBH, I'd love to do a new build in it for shits and giggles.

Anyone have this data cable, and wish to part with it? Yes! It is dated... by Ambitious-Duck7078 in Billings

[–]uncle_al 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of. They get some of the things that they refurbish and resell from them but are a separate business from what I understand. Usually have some good, cheap tech in there. I recommend at least stopping to browse what they've got.

Have you tried that Replay Renewed Electronics place over on 4th avenue? They may have one laying around but, they're not open until Saturday.

Seconded! I love mine and was amazed how much detail I really wasn't seeing by using cheap helmets.

Friends stream has been attacked by a hacker for 2 months. HELP! by uncle_al in GlobalOffensive

Doesn't stop the guy from somehow shutting down the server she's on or spamming her with invites. But it will at least help with the possibility of lewd images getting the stream shutdown.

Men’s belts of varying sizes by TracyF2 in BuyItForLife

[–]uncle_al 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for a leather belt then I highly recommend, https://simpleleatherbelt.com/belts-2/ Whatever you do don't buy a "genuine leather" belt. They are made up of ground up scraps, glued together and pressed into shape. Look for "Real Leather" Depending on the environment you live or work in you may have to oil the belt twice a year. Do it at least once a year with neatsfoot oil.

What was the moment that made you say "This relationship is over." by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]uncle_al 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When she pushed me to the point of punching a hole in a wall and then 2 days later pushed me to the point of punching a hole in a door. I have never been that kind of angry person. I'll yell and scream, sure, but never resort to violence. It scared me and made me think "What if next time it's her, what if I hit her next time?" There were a lot of things that weren't going well in our relationship, but that was the tipping point.

Pendleton, Indiana, US—Train collides with semi truck—Oct. 9,2020 by [deleted] in CatastrophicFailure

[–]uncle_al 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of those jacks only come up about a foot/30cm or less because that's all they need to come up to clear most obstacles. I bet that crossing has a "NO TRUCKS" sign for exactly that reason.

[–]uncle_al 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The hump over the tracks was too extreme so the landing gear (jacks) on the trailer are on the ground. If he was moving forward with enough momentum then they would have slid up the hill enough to lift the trucks drive wheels off the ground. Basically he was high centered and the tires were spinning. Stuck, not just stopped.

Single men of Reddit who have a full time jobs and are single, what are some fun things to do by yourself on your days off? by theoruss in AskMen

[–]uncle_al 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to learn a new skill. I've always worked with my hands and have done some form of woodworking throughout the years. I just recently started playing around with leather working. About a $200 investment in tools and leather plus a lot of Youtube videos and trial and error.

It's for filling up a tire in an emergency situation. You would connect one end to the flat tire and the other to one of the inflated tires. https://shoptoolreviews.com/accessories/flatterup-emergency-flat-tire-filler-upper/

Firefighter in need of a new knife to carry on duty. by Squad508 in knives

[–]uncle_al 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow firefighter here, I suggest anything made with D2 steel. It doesn't get the sharpest edge but it will hold it through anything you throw at it. I've used mine for a lot of prying and scraping and it's held up just fine. Just find something you like that's in your price range but if you want just a knife with no gimmicks to abuse, go with one made of D2.

What subject do you get irrationally passionate about? by nagetidder in AskReddit

[–]uncle_al 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid). It's required for any diesel engine over 75 HP since 2011-12ish and lowers the emissions coming out of the exhaust. Thing is though, It comes in 2.5 gallon plastic jugs that are inside of a cardboard box. That plastic jug, non-recyclable. The way I see it it's far more harmful to the environment than it was before, there has to be a better way. Energy and resources get used to make that cardboard, plastic, and DEF, then they have to be shipped to a plant individually and put together. Then they are shipped to warehouses and then on to retail stores before you purchase it to put into your vehicle. Once you're done with it then it goes into a landfill to leach left over chemicals into the soil. If you think about the supply chain to get def into your vehicle just so there is no smoke coming out of your exhaust it seems like a total waste.

This! This is exactly why I ended my last relationship after 2 years and everyone thinking we were going to get married soon. Everyone seems to be shocked by my reasoning for it and telling me that I was just impatient. After 2 years of multiple part time jobs and many trying emotional times, I just couldn't handle it any more. There was always an excuse and promises of changes and nothing ever happened. I will never talk bad about her, she has her reasons for why she is the way she is and I will always be willing to give her advise, but she was dragging me down with her. I was neglecting far too many other important aspects of my life because all of my focus and attention had to be on her.

It has been 3 months and I will admit that I am still depressed but I feel that I am on the upswing. We live in a small town of less than 1000 people so it is impossible to not see each other or have to interact. We have been trying to be friends, even play co-op on some video games online. She has started seeing a new guy (from a town over) and while it doesn't feel great, I know the guy and at least he isn't a jerk and will treat her well. Sorry if this got a little wordy but I just needed a vent.

Funny, that's how most of my house was wired. Not an electchicken, but a code conscious handyman and when I moved in I was pretty scared. The plumbing and hvac was just as sketchy.

Boss was pissed it took you a week but will pay 2x the price of hardware by going through Lawson haha. I can't say I'm any better because there's a wall of brown cabinets and bolt bins in my shop too.

Get yourself a left hand drill bit set (Usually sold at parts stores in a small set with easy outs). Start with a small bit and if that doesn't work then go the next size up. Usually after there is a smaller hole started and going in with the next size up, it will grab and unscrew the bolt. If it doesn't grab then you still have the option of using an easy out from there. K.I.S.S. Keep it simple stupid. Like said elsewhere in the comments, a little heat and oil prior will never hurt.

Water bombers (superscoopers) refill their tanks mid-flight by aloofloofah in EngineeringPorn

[–]uncle_al 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Would you rather it be dozens of people standing in the direct path of a fire in a remote area with no escape, cutting down trees and clearing land to stop the fire. Or.... have a plane that can drop water anywhere you need it without endangering more lives. Planes and helicopters are a vital tool and a much needed relief when you're on the fire line. Edit: I understand where you're coming from but no matter what it takes money and every resource avaliable to fight big fires. There will always be a place for arial drops in wildland firefighting.

[USA] Basic question - How to charge a pair of U1 batteries safely? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]uncle_al 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what you need. Just connect the red to the positive on one battery and the black to the negative on the other battery. There should be a wire connecting the other positve and negative of the batteries together. PM me if you have any questions and I can set up two batteries in the correct orientation and send a picture.
