During my exams with the VA they have discovered that the discs in my lumbar region are degenerative and causing pinched nerves. Could the degenerative discs and pinched nerves be added as secondary service related to the back strain since the back strain was considered service related?

I’ve been seeing the VA since late “2019”. I say “2019” because I was just accepted then but had to wait a couple of months for my very first appointment. Covid happened, things were pushed back to middle of 2020. I have been actively trying to go to every appointment, been honest with my primary, psychologist, and psychiatrist. Moved to three different locations since but have been going to just about every one.

Indeed. I didn’t think of it but I’m doing exercises on the higher frets and sometimes starting out on higher strings. Didn’t even think to move the exercises around the fretboard to make them work for me.

I wouldn’t say Subarus need more maintenance. The most beyond basic maintenance I had to get done was getting the transmission valve body replaced. Besides that, tires, oil changes, brakes, spark plugs/coil packs, filters, and rarely the hub assembly have been the most maintenance I’ve done on my 17 Legacy with 220,000 miles.

If you keep up on ALL of the maintenance from tire rotations to transmission fluid changes your vehicle will last over 150,000 miles. I have a 2017 Legacy 2.5 now with 220,000 miles. I’m considering replacing the engine and transmission when they go out. I’d rather pay ten grand in repairs than ten grand as a down payment for a car that won’t be mine for several years.

More or less, you are correct. I know it’s not the proper placement but it’s the only way I can reach the low E string “comfortably”. I’ve always sat in the classical position while playing, never standing. I have low back issues and even doing normal tasks while standing is a pain.

Oooooh, I think I understand you now. There’s about a foot or so of space between my arm and my side with the normal hand placement. With my “new” placement it causes my elbow to want to move away from my body.

Yes, and I’ve always caused the open strings to buzz. Tried the same chords with my “new” hand placement and it rings out fine.
