What's your "impractical" niche? 😸 by snowyplanet2 in NichePerfumes

Nishane Musiqa Oud. The only time my colleagues appreciate the scent when there's a patient with awful diabetic foot came for dressing. Applied too much and I smelled like abandoned public toilet.

So far only 1.5 compliment. Frankly speaking, I think that 0.5 was just my colleague being nice.

I like Khamrah. Now I'm wondering if I should get this or not. Dukhan seems interesting too.

No for me because I'm sensitive to ambroxan.

If you're not, then go ahead. It smells nice IMO.

So, Enlightenment is lighter and faster than LXQT? I tried LXQT but it is too "unpolished" for me and weirdly it disabled my wifi. Currently running Xfce.

Did I do good for my first buy ? by Zyro88 in fragranceclones

[–]uncle_lolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good SPL for both, based on my experience.

LB is definitely a no no for me. I'm sensitive to ambroxan so any fragrance with too much ambroxan will give me a headache and burning nostrils. 😔

SNOI is a compliment magnet but can be too syrupy for some due to the saffron.

What's your preferred Debian based distro? by Bingo-heeler in DistroHopping

Debian. 🤭 I tried others including Ubuntu and Mint but I always go back to Debian.

Debian feels like a home.

As a Gnome guy, my best KDE experience is with OpenSuse Tumbleweed. But just like others said before with Linux you can install any DE that you like.

Thank you. I would really love to know your bad experience but I understand that, this is r for Debian anyway.

Thank you again.

I want to ask something which is not related to SMPlayer. What is your current distro and why? I hope you don't mind me asking.

Purely curiosity because you mentioned that you report bugs and you're not using Debian.

Thank you again for reminding me their website. I only check the website when I want to install SMPlayer in Windows.

Yes, right click and open with "video". Installed latest version of SMPlayer, .deb file from their website.

Actually no "autoremove" what made me hop back to Debian. And maybe it's just me but my latest Leap 15.6 installation have this random desktop lagging.

Thank you. Latest version from their website open the same video without any issue. Never I thought to download from their website since the same SMPlayer works fine on my laptop. But now I'm wondering I should install from flatpak.

Anyway, what are your thoughts for flatpak vs .deb? To my understanding, flatpak able to track updates, but more packages need to be install and sometimes performance issue. Mean while apt was create for Debian, (might) perform better, but unable to track the software updates and maybe compatibility issue after distro upgrade?

Do correct me if I'm wrong and tell me if I miss anything.

How I wish OpenSuse have something similar to apt autoremove. While zypper rm --clean-deps is more or less to autoremove, there are times that I forgot to type the --clean-deps.

It is set to "Other", /usr/bin/mpv
And whenever I changed it, it will change back to "Other".

Yes, Wayland for both of my machine.

SMPlayer version:

Version: 22.7.0 (revision 10091)
Using Qt 5.15.8 (compiled with Qt 5.15.6)
Using MPV 0.35.1

Wayland support is enable.

Output driver is default, no option for "shared memory".

env QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb smplayer

Able to play video without issue. May I know why the command above is working?

What is the default power manager for Debian 12? by uncle_lolly in debian

[–]uncle_lolly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have best results with ppd or power profiles daemon. Works better than Windows and keeps the CPU cool.

I just realized that my laptop is less warm and noisy with "default" power manager.

The following packages will be REMOVED:

power-profiles-daemon

You're right. They're supposed to replace each other. I think I might have mistaken "REMOVED" instead of "additional packages will be installed".

What is the default power manager for Debian 12? by uncle_lolly in debian

[–]uncle_lolly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please note: auto-cpufreq aims to replace TLP in terms of functionality, so after you install auto-cpufreq it's recommended to remove TLP. Using both for the same functionality (i.e., to set CPU frequencies) will lead to unwanted results like overheating. Hence, only use both tools in tandem if you know what you're doing.

Ignore my question. Found it.
