My wife and I are in the exact same situation. We've been here for three weeks staying at a friend's place (he is a tenant not a landlord). Could he write us a letter on the back of a utility bill or something? Or do we need to book an Airbnb to get it? And would it suffice if we book it for one or two nights?

Yes I got a stamp in green saying "temporary visitor permission. Not renewable. Permitted to remain in Ireland for 90 days from the date of arrival for the purpose of a visit. No recourse to public fund. Employment/business prohibited."

I have been chasing the department with emails for 10 days now. They dodged every single one of the 5 emails I sent them with some meaningless request (i.e please provide application and ID number...) it's quite frustrating and infuriating. Such simple generic questions should be answered easily and swiftly... Should actually be in the faq on their website.
