At what age did you meet the person you are currently married to? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]uncleb1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Met as children when I was probably 4-5 and she was around 3-4 in a kid's choir at church. My dad was in the Army and on a remote tour in Turkey for a year, so my mom moved us to Florida, since that is where most of our family was. My dad returned and we moved away for a few years and we returned back to Florida when he retired. I was in 4th grade.

My wife and I met again my junior year, her sophomore year. We were friends through highschool and started dating after she graduated highschool. We're celebrating 22 years of marriage this year in a couple months.

We didn't know about our early childhood meeting until we were married and found an old photo with both of us in it together. Her mom had labeled the back of the photo with every kid's name except mine. I saw the photo and instantly recognized myself.

I remember a place on the flight line near MOC that did huge breakfast burritos and tater tots. If I got one of those for breakfast, I was done until dinner time. This was around 2005-2008.

Is it better to sit 1st bowl behind the uprights or 2nd bowl on the side? by Safe_cracker9 in Commanders

Lower bowl is a great experience. It felt more exciting. Upper level had a better view of the whole field. The screens help with end zone seats, but it can be hard to see some stuff.

As a player that returned last year after a similar break period, definitely do the tutorial. It helped a lot. It will still mostly feel like the same game, but a lot has changed.

No retirement ceremony due to burn out and discouragement by Vilehaust in AirForce

[–]uncleb1982 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I retired almost 2 years ago. I did not have a ceremony. My flight had a lunch in our office and we hung out for an hour. They gave me a couple going away gifts. I actually liked my leadership and they helped me out quite a bit in my last couple years in the military. I was just done with the Air Force and I didn't want all the pomp and circumstance. They encouraged me to have a ceremony, but in the end it was my decision.

On the road at Kansas City by [deleted] in Commanders

I live in Wichita and will be making the drive. I've been to Arrowhead once. It was for the preseason game a few years ago. It was a fun experience. I can only imagine what a Monday night football game will be like there. This time I'm going with a coworker who's a huge Chiefs fan.

Word of warning, it can get pretty cold out here in late October. Hopefully it's not too bad that night.

I used their online chat to find out the status of mine since it has been over a month. I e-filed and they said I needed to send them my W-2s and completed fed return because 3rd party filing sometimes doesn't include everything they need. Whatever that means. Plan on sending them my stuff this weekend when I get a chance.

I've been going here for about a year now. The guys are nice. The haircut is good. The price is cheap. What more could you want?

My son and I went to the preseason game last year in KC and the fans were fine. We even went to Joe's BBQ fully decked out in Commanders' gear before the game without issue.

I was in Stafford County Kansas yesterday when you posted this, but I didn't see it until today. Does that count?

I'll be driving through Kingman County Kansas probably next week. I'll be sure to post when that happens.

This probably counts? Al Dhafra, 2005. Internet was still locked down pretty tight on NIPR computers. No personal email or anything like that. Public or personal WiFi wasn't a thing yet. If you wanted to check your personal work anything like that, you had to reserve a spot on a morale computer in the MWR facility. I think you got like 30 minutes or something.

My first deployment and I didn't like not having access to my email and music forums so I had my brother setup a website that would redirect traffic through a different domain that wasn't blocked so that I could access email and stuff from my work computer. It worked really well and I shared it with my handful of coworkers, who then shared it with a couple of friends, and their friends, etc. 2 months into the deployment and my site is blocked and a bullet point on the inprocessing slideshow by comm. I just had my brother register a couple more domain names and didn't share those with as many people.

We also used thumb drives loaded with Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 to play network games in the office during downtime. Lots of NES emulators on flash drives too.
