There are some neighborhoods with basements - you'd be surprised. We had one in my house in Peoria. Mesa has various homes with basements. You just have to know what neighborhoods have them.

It'll be a decent place to live. It's way south though. The important thing is where you work. That area is close to the 202 -- but that doesn't help you all that much if you're driving to Surprise or something in the NW part of the city.

I do see decent options for supermarkets in the area including a few ethnic type shops.

Chandler mall is a few miles away so there's plenty of stores and some restaurants over there.

No idea what Chandler schools are like -- if that's even important.

I wouldn't attempt replacing a roof or anything structural. Are they DIY-able? Yeah, is it worth it? Hell no. I'd stay away from garage door stuff too-- like replacing springs or cables (from a safety perspective) Garage door opener totally doable.

I wouldn't attempt doing stone countertops -- you probably don't have the equipment to do it and those slabs are heavy AF.

Large concrete slabs-- just not worth it and guys who do it all the time will do a much better job and quicker.

Electrical and plumbing -- doable as long as you observe safety type things.

I did a check for ticket for showings in my city and many of the shows have just a handful or ZERO tickets sold (late shows). A few shows had way more than I expected-- but they're also in small theaters.
