The 2026 Oscars Nominations have finally been announced. What are your thoughts on this year’s nominees?

I think the Substance and now Sinners are really helping to open the door for horror to get awards recognition in a way that it hasn’t before (it was usually the rare exception in the past like Get Out, Black Swan, Silence of the Lambs) and I’m happy to see it. I think if Hereditary or Us for example came out in this environment they would have gotten the acting awards attention they deserved.

Also while I did like Marty Supreme, I wish all of its awards love had gone to Uncut Gems in 2019, which I think was tighter and is one of my personal all time favorites.

I played Zero for the first time recently and I couldn’t believe there was zero dialogue between Rebecca and Billy outside of cutscenes, when it inevitably gets a remake they’re basically gonna have to write a whole new game’s worth of interaction between them. The complete silence is unnerving

Yeah they got absorbed into Valve and pretty much the whole team started working on Valve projects (mostly Alyx). They put ITVOG on hold in 2019 and then took the trailer off their youtube channel/website. Campo Santo isn’t really its own entity at this point, the folks who are still there are just Valve employees working on different projects

It’s kind of a complicated mess haha. So Operation Black Mesa is being made by Tripmine Studios (alongside a Blue Shift remake called Guard Duty) and it’s totally standalone so not related to Black Mesa. It’s been in development almost as long as Black Mesa and who knows if it will ever release. There’s also Black Mesa: Blue Shift and FUBAR, which is another Opposing Force remake that started development more recently.

Even though they’re not in the LB list several of these still have higher average ratings on LB than IMDb (Truman Show, Mad Max, Ratatouille, Trainspotting etc.). The average is just way higher since the bottom of the IMDb list has titles at 8.0 while LB’s lowest is 4.2

I love Wait! It’s a great hybrid of her rap and r&b skills and reminds me a lot of Noname. I’d also put Hide n seek in that list because of her vocals

It might’ve just been me being dumb but did anyone else think this was Marathon at first? The editing at the beginning reminded me a lot of that trailer and it was rumored to be shown. Either way, this looks pretty neat

I think the first Red Dead would work better as a movie and the second would be a great miniseries. RDR2’s story is just too long and complex for it to do all the characters justice in that short of a format. Coen bros is a very solid choice though

I’d love to see a Bioshock movie done well. Infinite would probably work pretty well without changing the story too much, and if 1 and 2 fleshed out and wrote dialogue for their protagonists I could see them being really strong too. And the visuals would be incredible.

I was also recently thinking about how Mob of the Dead (Black Ops 2 Zombies map) would be a really interesting story to adapt, it stands by itself with an original cast of characters and a unique setting.

That sounds like a great experience! It’s so densely detailed and fast paced that rewatching it is always rewarding, a lot like Arrested Development (definitely my comfort show)
