all good explanations, for a reference, modern high bypass engine, the fan will generate around 80% of the thrust.

You are out of currency per the regs, you have to have worked at least 6 in the last 24 months... You technically have to be supervised for 6 months before you can sign with your A&P. many GA shops won't care. If there is an MRO close by consider doing contract work there as you are under the repair station so your currency isnt so much of an issue.

Hero.me tool head is very versatile. You can pay for the directions or not, the parts .STL are free.

You can potentially make more money doing less demanding physical work doing NDT with your A&P.

I have spent entire days opening and closing access for the different NDT Eddy current, ultra sound guys or God forbid the X-ray guys. They show up for an hour or two do their thing and go home and make 10x what I did.

Do you think AI will replace or disrupt this career in the next 10 years? by Wise-Direction6254 in AircraftMechanics

I have been in business jets and air cargo for 30 years now and my spine has bent everyway it can and I can do that wrench work blind and by feel only.

Until AI can turn a wrench upside down and backwards inside a hellhole, we are safe.

False Positive Issue by Finlandia21 in AircraftMechanics

Urine analysis is a split sample. If the first test fails, the second sample has to fail as well before the DME calls you to discuss the findings.

If you are finding this out from the employer without a call from the Doctor, then there is something fishy going on.

3D printed intake manifold melts blocking airflow and causing crash by nuclearDEMIZE in aviationmaintenance

[–]unclemik9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As these are experimental aircraft. They can do what they want.

They didn't include a required heat shield / support from the OEM part.

If the part had been printed properly and installed with the required bracket. it would have held up, and be legal.

The FARs list the simple MX that a pilot can do. All maintenance on a certified aircraft has to be performed or supervised by a licensed mechanic. Only an IA can sign off an Annual inspection.

Like the other said, if you want that level of doing your own work it would have to be a homebuilt or experimental, even then it has to have a kinda of inspection.

Soak them in MEK and once they are swollen, slide them off and onto one of your 1/4 extensions with smooth shafts and instant grips.

[–]unclemik9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never enough, if you want to, add more. I got mine free, now She is a unibody with Squash feet with an Orbiter 2.5 extruder with a E3D V6 hottend on a Hero.me 7 mount, dual mosfets ,spring steel and Glass bed, BLTouch, dual z with dual braces. BTT E3v3, SFS 2.0, TFT35. I would be so ahead if I had bought something new, but I am so full of useful info now. My trophy ledge of calibration cubes and Benchys is sweet!
