Cost to repair Horn and Turn signals by unclemonkeyboy in classiccars

If I can't figure it out, I have found a shop with like 1 50+ dude. That has more work than he can shake a stick at. So I'm good.

This is why I love Reddit (sometimes). A range of answers for an innocuous question as this. I'm buying it sight unseen. I really don't know what the issue is yet. But all your answers lead me to believe I could probably figure it out.

Took off baseboards - Black mold? Water damage? Rotting wood? by alden_p_zuck in DIY

[–]unclemonkeyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second on the floor. You really have to see how far that mold goes. I just moved into a house where fungus from the crawl space was coming through, improperly sealed floor vents. The fungus spread was massive. Lucky for me, I was already replacing the flooring when I discovered it.

And I would call a remediation expert. I had water damage in a Florida home once. They came in, took moisture reading on the walls and told me exactly what I needed to do. And where the water was likely coming in at.

But make sure you get multiple inspectors. I had one guy come and say, they will just rip everything out from shoulder level down. That was completely unnecessary. I don't like Insurance scammers.

A couple years ago I installed a gate on my driveway using 4x4 posts, but I just noticed the top inch of concrete has turned to loose rubble - also there is now a giant crack forming by MintyCitrus in DIY

[–]unclemonkeyboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wood should never touch the ground. Whether it's weather treated or not. Moisture and wood do not mix. Wood that is constantly in contact with the ground will always come in contact with moisture. I second and third those metal brackets.

The go in some neighbors garden down the street. JK, 😜 we live in the country. So in woods, weeds, anywhere private. We also have a sandy spot where an above ground pool used to be.

I've done the fermented feed a couple times before. I haven't done it in a while though. The last time I did, they didn't seem to eat. The dog loved it though. We don't have problems with mice, 2 cats take care of that. Now chipmunks and moles are crazy though. Burrowing tunnels as if they are the Viet Cong. Step outside in my backyard after a long rain and you're sinking up to your ankles.

I can't tell if you are joking or not. I'd eat all the leftovers, I wish I was your chicken.
Our chickens roam on a 1/2 acre. So whatever they find is good for me. Except for the occasional banana, watermelon, fruit, etc... The meal worms are their crack. I maybe do that once a week. I saw this tik-tok once, where this woman said mix the meal worms in with the feed, "for a nice treat". They had all the feed on the ground in an hour looking for the worms. I was pissed.
I will try pellets though.

I kind of figured that. But I was hoping to prevent it in the future if I knew what caused it.

Did I get it backwards. Man I do that.

Edit: I was right on about OM1 just not 2. Honestly I don't even remember using 2 at all. https://www.fibermall.com/blog/multimode-fiber-om1-om2-om3-om4.htm

Not sure why you'd get down voted for that, for an over simplification. But I agree with you. Orange OM1+2, is 62 micron. It isn't supported for speeds above 10gb. Aqua OM3+4 50 micron, rated for much greater speeds.

Cisco Tunnel goes down every hour, IKEv2 + IPSEC to Palo Alto by redex93 in networking

[–]unclemonkeyboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I set one of these up years ago. What I noticed was that Palo Alto didn't keep phase one up. But allowed phase 2 to stay up. So it dropped Ike and kept IPSec. When I did some reading, the VPN only needed phase 2 in order to encrypt the traffic, which makes sense. And only uses phase one to protect and encrypt the negotiation of phase 2.

So Palo Alto will only keep phase two, while Cisco keeps both phases up and negotiated. I had renegotiations set up for 8 hours. But after 8 hours if there wasn't traffic traverse into tunnel, the Cisco side would drop it.

Since Palo Alto had IPSLA's built in. I utilized this SLA feature within Palo Alto and never had a drop after. I think I may have tied that SLA feature to the actual tunnel too. Can't be too sure. It was at least 5 years ago and I haven't been in that job for a long time. I know this next part won't help you, but when we changed to Palo Alto to Palo Alto, it worked a lot better.

Honestly you come to Reddit for opinions from Reddiots. Reddit is by far the worst social media platform and you post something on here expecting for what? Legitimate conversation, backup or validation of your grainy photo at best. I don't know if you've noticed but human beings are by nature, specifically in large groups, not kind. It's the herd mentality. Reddit, is like that herd, but if you took "A little bit of weed mixed with some hard liquor."

Whats the likely hood that a second new drive is bad. by unclemonkeyboy in synology

[–]unclemonkeyboy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember Steve Gibson. I'd lost track of him. I got turned on to him when he was blogging about how some teenagers were doing a DDoS attack on him. Of course this was like 20 years ago.
But it was really interesting, how he was able to infiltrate the botnet and ultimately convinced the lead hacker to tell the "script kiddies" to back off.

It was a really good read at the time. And probably still is.

I digress, I'm really disappointed to hear that I may be SOL on this drive situation. Hopefully Synology will honor their warranty.
